Wow, I haven't been around these parts in awhile. Hopefully I can help shed a little light on some of the things that were previously brought up.
I think the three major complaint-guns, if you will, were the Famas, USAS, and M320 attachment. As someone already mentioned, the Famas was mainly on that list because it was such a common weapon of choice. Another reason was because its fire rate was still way too high for having such a long range. That being said, I think they truly butchered these formerly abused guns by nerfing them to extinction. From what I heard, they cut the ammo in each clip of the Famas down to 20 instead of 30 like it was before the patch. Not only that, but they lowered the fire rate as well. I was never a big Famas guy, but I can see why people are upset.Wow... I never knew it had such a bad reputation. In my experience, the ones most complained about in game were the M320 and USAS. I had issues with those two as well, but never felt that way about the FAMAS, even when coming across it playing other kits.
I will have to give the M16A3 a try as I still haven't found one that suits me yet when playing the Assault kit.
There was a website I found at one point that showed all of the weapons and their respective "behind the scenes" stats. It showed how much damage each gun could do at each distance, how many shots to kill, a recoil ranking, and a lot more. The group that made the charts and performed the tests was able to conclude that DICE uses the M416 as their control gun, that is, a gun that hardly, if ever, changes with each patch. If you've ever used it before, you would probably assume the same thing since after each patch it feels the same. It just so happens that this has been my weapon of choice from the start, making me a very happy camper. XDThe only reason the Famas was so hated by some was because almost everyone and their grandma was using it. Most of my deaths were from that weapon. I would be semi-happy when a different weapon killed me lol. My favorite gun on there is the G36C for engineer but if you want a good assault weapon, try the M16A3 or M416. Neither one feels changed imo and the iron sights aren't bad if you don't want attachments. Good go-to guns.
I've noticed the suppression has gotten somewhat harder now. Had to change the way I play just to adjust to it. Anyone noticed?
If you're looking for other solid all-around guns, try these out:
M416, AEK-971, MKII Mod (Red Dot), M60 (Foregrip), G36C, AK-74u (Iron Sights)
If you're wondering the attachments I use, it almost always ends up being the American Holo Scope, a Foregrip, and a Suppressor. For the MKII Mod, the first American sniper, I like to use it with Red Dot and a Foregrip to basically create a two-shot semi-automatic sniper. The reason for the Iron Sights on the AKu is that I have none. But, give it a try with any other Russian sight, and I can guarantee that you will find Iron Sights to be better for whatever reason. If you want a cheap gun for maps like Operation Metro, use the USAS with Buckshot.
One major feature added in the patch was the "Quit" option after each round. You can simply press Circle if on PS3 to exit to the main menu instead of waiting for the next round to begin. Another nice addition was the "Remove Anti-Aliasing" feature. I'm not quite sure exactly what it does, but it's something along the lines of removing extra detail in the graphics to make the game run smoother. When I turned this to "Off" for the first time, I didn't notice anything new, except I haven't been kicked out of any games since. What has the new patch added, other then the need to re-download my dlc map pack? my friend says its somehow changed the maps or something? anyone know of a good scoped gun for the assult kit to have and how to unlock it? I seem to have the weapon with the worst re-coil ever in a game ever.
Gameplay-wise, the patch basically just added recoil across the board to all weapons. I would say the learning curve is about 10 minutes, 5 for experienced players. I don't even notice it anymore, so it shouldn't be an issue.
From my perspective, the best new addition was the private servers. It seems like plenty of people were craving these and they were not like I expected. You can easily find any server of your liking and all of them I have come across have been ranked.Last edited by WoodburyRaider; 04-08-2012 at 05:16 AM.

Removing anti-aliasing probably removes the anti-aliasing. Although AA on console games tends to suck anyway, so it's only really noticeable on PC games as a difference... And it can already be turned off there anyway...Wow, I haven't been around these parts in awhile. Hopefully I can help shed a little light on some of the things that were previously brought up.

These new updates are great and have brought me back to the game after a long break happy and content.
One thing i haven't tested yet as i had to re-download the Back to Karkland DLC is if they have fixed the animation for the MG36 when playing on Karkland maps.
The last time i played before the patch the character would hold the weapon over his head and you couldn't see past your own arms to shoot. I'll be glad if this has been fixed as its my favorite gun.
Also i was able to find a knife only server which was the best match i have played yet in BF3. It was just pure crazy knife wielding fun and will be even more fun when the CQC maps come out. At first i didn't like the thought of rent a server but now i think i like it.
Also did they change much with the jets cause i noticed i was able to control them better and kill helicopters a lot easier than before. Though it could just be that i have finally mastered the jets properly.
I even managed to shoot down a helicopter with a tank from almost half way across the map. Doubt i'll ever manage it again but wish i had recorded it.
I never had issues with the Famas before myself as i always try to get close to the enemy but its shotguns that are my deadliest foe especially the DAO. I have noticed a heap of servers that say no shotguns or frag ammo.Last edited by Lordwarblade; 04-10-2012 at 01:11 AM.

Actually, woodbury... the devs stated recently that the M16A3 remains the standard by which all other guns are balanced. I use the M416 pretty often as well, and it's a solid gun. (Both the M16A3 and M416 received no updates in the recent patch, as you correctly pointed out.) But the M16A3 has basically remain unchanged since day 1.
And as far as weapon tweaks go, you can read the patch notes gun by gun. The real issue is that all of the attachments effect each gun in different ways. For instance, guns with higher horizontal recoil benefit more from the foregrip than guns with low horizontal recoil. But if you dig into the stats, their individual percentages vary based on the gun. If you really want to get all the details, head over to Symthic. The forums is where all the details are, but I expect all the patch data to be fully expanded in the near future, complete with sample recoil plots, etc.
There are still a few bugs that need to be hammered out with this patch, but the game has changed for the better.Last edited by schm0; 04-10-2012 at 12:38 PM.

I've noticed this quite a bit more now too. I'd imagine if you are able to beat a colonel 100 star, he's been boosting on a private server.Anyone else on PS3 notice a rise in high levels since the patch? I only saw one person above colonel 50 star before the patch and now I see one every match. I met a level 100 colonel today. (Beat him lol) and there were 2 97s on his team too. Are people boosting on private servers now or what?Former Spotlighter, Create Marathon Organizer,

Seems alright to me. You just gotta find the right combination for some guns. I'm finding it hard to stray away from engineer to support class now. I love using the G36C.

If you are talking about rocket launchers, they did nerf them down when it comes to infantry. Haven't really noticed changes in other weapons. (I use mainly the SCAR).
