EDIT: Has anyone tried out Armored Kill? Is it as nice as it seemed? Because at first my reaction was "Wow! Now they're talking!" but after they said there will be an AC130 but we can't drive it I'm rather on the "Meh" side of things.

Well, I was flying the mini-Russian chopper above the trainyard in that dockyard map (conquest), when suddenly I get taken down by a SMAW. I thought, "crud, I flew to close to the ground".

It went to the dude who shot me, and he was on the US spawn ship all the way across the map. Twas amazing. The man deserves a medal.

Either lucky shot or suspicious at best. ...though I did nail a jet with an rpg once and the guy was screaming at me that I was cheating. He was flying so low and slow over me that it was almost a point blank shot.

I used to think some were cheating when I get killed by them in my tank or other armored vehicle and they are in a jeep or some other bit of armor across the map. ...I then realized later it was actually an AT mine. Doh.... Actually it was a way to get so many kills in the DPV jeep which is part of the Scarred Veteran assignment. Setting out AT mines and then just sitting awaiting kills in the jeep would do it. I just found it much more fun to zoom around on wake island and run over people. lol


So anyone enjoying the new Armored Kill maps? I am loving the new Tank Superiority mode. If I can't get a tank, I like to go out as supply and sneak around the sides, past the line and wait for enemy tanks to roll by so I can c4 them. I also try and leave one box of ammo somewhere on the sidelines so I can come back in if killed as an engineer and sneak way up again and use a javelin on the tanks, plus have an ammo box handy.

There's also a funny thing that happens if there's C4 on your tank, and an enemy shoots that C4 with a gun of their choosing, it will read that you were killed by that gun, despite you being in a tank.

Please! Sometimes I replace the C4 trigger with a frag shotgun and go for the tanks. Best thing ever is to destroy a tank with the 870MCS.

Just curious... do you show up on the mini map when you use the C4 trigger? I know you do when you shoot a gun. Obviously the person you blew up knows you are there, but curious if it tips off anyone else.

I... Don't think it does..? I do know that honking your horn in a jeep/quad will put you on the minimap. From all the times I've been C4'ed while in a tank, I've never seen somebody show up, though.

Oh wow... honking your horn does!? lol

..you know, now that I think about it I don't recall ever seeing anyone show up on the mini map when I have been c4'd either.

Also, we've all seen that BF4 beta mention, and Demize99 is apparently core gameplay designer, which means BF4 is already in (pre-?) production. I think this explains why patches are so rare. Still, isn't it a bit... I don't know... Too... SOON™ ?

I'm still skeptical, because gameplay is far from perfect in BF3.

Oh that is the worst... Get in a tank, move in to a position that you outflank your enemy. ..and suddenly while sneaking in for the great shot in the rear of an enemy tank, some idiot squad member decides to spawn in on you and start shooting anything, plus the tank alerting him to your plan and making you show up on radar. So you end up getting shot once by the tank, possibly another by a javelin and also a chopper or jet.

...makes you wish you had an off switch for the machine gun.

k so i went to play this over at my friends house, and i got into a plane (HECK YEA) and didnt know how to control it. I ended up flying in the water, going in it, going through the bottom of the ocean, and flew under the map. ;_;

any ideas on the two most recent map packs? I was thinking of maybe getting one with a net card I got for my birthday but wanted to hear opinions on them first. I've tried Youtube but every review seems to have wildly different opinions and theres no videos comparing the two. which should I get (if either?) try to remember I'm a casual player, I don't play on my ps3 that often and my time is split between this and maybe 3 other games when I do play, so How often you can expect to play the maps etc is kinda helpfull to my purchase more then naking the weapons (why do they have such confusing names?)

Reminded me why I avoid metro like the plague. Also, I never receive the "You committed suicide" message, I only have the ambiguous "Bad Luck".

I did get Armored Kill last week, and I'm quite happy with it. The maps are well designed, with at least 500m between each of the non-linear flags. The tank destroyer vehicle is fun, and the mobile artillery... Well I wouldn't know, there's always someone in them. Also for some reason, I can actually fight dismounted (that's something because in vanilla BF3 I die the second I get out). Without AK, my BF3 disc would have been still gathering dust, so for anyone out there in doubt about getting it, I give it my seal of approval.
