    Default Orchastreical Instruments?

Idk if Orchastreical is a word or not but does anyone know if there are instruments in the music sequencer that could be used for orchastral songs because all i ever hear on the beta is only technoish songs. Does anyone know if they had instruments like that on the beta or if they will on the real game.

Orchestraeical isn't a word. xD Orchestral is though.

And to answer your question: No, there aren't any true orchestral instruments. Most are synths, some are more organic than those (i.e. Piano; Glockenspiel; Concertina; some more), but the available instruments are dominated by synths. That's why there's so many techno/8-bit songs found in the beta. However, unless they added onto the beta's 42 instrument selection for the launch version, don't expect much on the orchestral side until future DLC (which we might as well presume is guaranteed).

Hope this helps. Don't be disappointed though. I'm sure they'll add in more instruments soon enough.

Yeah I agree, we need some Orchestra for EPIC SONGS!

    We need strings!

Well we are supposed to be able to make everything in LBP2's story mode and more. So that should include the songs too right? I watched the last boss already and the song in the background was super orchastral. So shouldnt they give us those intruments since they used them?

The samples in the beta were mostly horrible, unfortunately. They had strings... but they didn't sound anything like strings. Many of us who are musicians were very disappointed with the sounds in the beta, and are hoping more and better samples will be provided in the full game... but I'm not getting my hopes up for fear of disappointment.

To the point of the songs used in the game... don't expect that quality. Those are real songs by professional musicians/composers. The instruments used in those songs are not provided in the Music Editor.

Not to be a "Negative Nancy" or anything... just don't get your hopes up on the quality or amount of instruments available.

I have to say I was quite disappointed with the music maker. Sure it's great for electronic music but I wanted to make something nice and orchestral. Violin please?

You have to be realistic though, this is only a small section of the game and Mm have a lot to work on. Any half decent orchestral music maker would set you back a fair bit of money and are very sophisticated.

I disagree on this. I think they are just poorly created sound files. Today's knowledge and technology should provide much better results than these. Most of the sounds are akin to a $35 childrens Casio toy keyboard. I have a Roland JW60 that's about 20 years old that has far superior orchestrated samples or any other samples than what this game provides. The sounds are simply 3rd rate compared to what else this game has to offer. Listen to the quality of the Sound Effects samples... those are great! What happend to the music samples I wonder?

I do agree that Mm have a lot to work on, but all the different area's of the game are assigned to different departments. Personally, I think this is more of a case of not taking the music sequencer as seriously as it should have been taken, and possibly not hiring the right person for the job more than anything. They had plenty of time and money to put into this.

Hopefully the final game will be an improvement. If not, then future DLC might be our godsend. I'm pretty sure Mm are aware of how disappointed most people were with the system, so in true Mm form... I'm sure they will do what they can to keep their fans happy and make improvements as they go along. Well... that's the hopes of many of us anyways.

Either way... at least we have SOMETHING to create our own themes with now. The biggest challenge is in being innovative with the sequencer and it's sounds. Some decent results can be had... but you really need to have a good understanding of music, take the time to really work on your songs, understand just what the limited amount of effects we have available do.. or all three.
