Thread: Weak Pistons

    Default Weak Pistons

I had looked around on the forums and couldn't find any posts related to this problem. I don't remember this occuring on LBP1.

My pistons are too weak to lift large objects(even while using a light material + strength set to 100%).

    Here's a simple diagram:

Is there any way around this problem?

Instead of connecting it to a small base, try a large holo instead.
It worked great for me in the beta at least.

I figured it was the same as LBP1, as in it depends what materials you're using for the two objects.

As long as one of the objects is fixed with DM, it can lift any amount of mass. The force applied by the piston is proportional to the masses of the two objects it connects, and DM has infinite mass.

It's possible that using a Gravity Tweaker to hold an object in place, rather than DM, won't work.

I could be wrong but if you put an anti-gravity tweaker on the thing you want to move and turn dampening all the way down and anti-gravity all the way up whatever you are trying to move will effectively be weightless.

In this case, DM won't work. I'm making a leg that will be able to move.

    I also don't understand how 0 gravity still = a little gravity...but that's another topic!

In that case, try making either the leg or the body from a heavier material.

    Let's say I'm making a mecha crab..

Does this mean I can't make it entirely out of cardboard? I have to make the body metal and the legs.. wood? Or both the body and legs metal?

Edit: A quick search and I found this: The piston is as strong as the weight it's lifting. So the craft I'm making has to have a wooden body and metal legs... odd.
