Default 99 Red Balloons [Versus level]

A versus level. There are currently three types of balloons: regular balloons (99 of them roughly, and they're red), green balloons which are smaller and give 100 points if you burst them, and sneaky balloons that burst if you hold onto them for longer than one second (these are an off-red colour). I'll work on posting pictures soon.

The most fun you'll have in a versus level, or your money back!

I'll do yours if you do mine. Bird Hunting. I have a forum thread with a few specific questions and what not.

    Not bad, not bad.
A few suggestions: the outline mode makes it like impossible to play, sooo hard to see things. Didn't try the silhouette mode so cannot comment on that... You may want to just not have them.

And the bounce pads at the bottom of the level that are slowly moving about. Make there be like four instead of two. I couldn't hit the two even when I was try my hardest to hit them. Four I think would be more practical...

  4. Thanks!

Well, silhouette works amazingly, so there's no way I'd just remove them. I did notice that outline does make it harder, but I can still see things. If it becomes too difficult, just don't use the effect.

They're not supposed to be easy to hit, it's only meant to be an unlikely save that happens once in a while, when you're lucky. I originally only had 1 bounce pad, but then it was near impossible to save yourself. In the event that you fall that low, you're supposed to die.

    Thanks for the feedback!

No problem! So is this the finished version then are you still working to add more, or gonna work on something else? My Bird Hunting level is getting continuous updates

I was constantly tweaking and updating it for about two days after its release, but it's more or less finished now. I'll be updating it in the future still here and there (once I get xray and pixelate materials), but as for now I have a much larger project on the go.

    Minor update.

    • Outline effect has been replaced with pixelate effect.
    • Green balloons now reward 100 points, up from 50.
    • Bounce pads now move slightly faster.
    • Sackbot greeter dialogue and voice has been modified.
    • TV screen at the end of the level now shows a LBPC Logo.

    I just played your level:

It was really fun and adicting. I played it alone, but i imagine it is tons of fun playing with other people. The tutorial was good and i had no trouble finding out what to do. The timer was cool and like the pipe system you had you fall trough when you died!

What i didn't like to much was the camera. I don't know if it was done on purpose or not, but i would much better if the camera was zoomed out so you could see the entire level.
I need feedback on my TOWER DEFENCE level

  10. Thanks!

I liked, definitely fun to play, but heres some things i think might improve it.

Its simple, and simplicity works, but you need to have more to it than just the three different balloon types and the prize bubbles.

You should expand the balloon concept so that there are more colours and more special features to them, this would complicate the love somewhat, but it needs more variety. Maybe obstacles as well, that make it harder to get to the bubbles, or even lethal obstacles.

There is no need for the outline ability, it just confuses things and doesnt help the game play in anyway. However i liked the idea of the analogue clock, which was a nice touch.

I also agree that maybe if you had the camera zoomed out, it would make it easier to see whats going on as a whole.

The scoring system also needs more variety, prize bubbles alone are not enough to enhance the gameplay/competitive values of the level. Maybe try having bonus objects, like clouds or stars that come in at certain intervals, or even balloons that take a certain number of grapples before exploding and giving the player a bunch of points.

Its a great concept, and should turn out even better once you have made some changes!

If you have the time, please take a look at my mini-game, link in my sig.
Feel free to check out my mini-game 'Pinket Ball', a competitive combination of pinball and basketball!

The only reason I implemented it at all was just to give the player some choices and variety to gameplay. The clock was both a labour of love and a necessity; I had just finished making variations on counters, and the default "time limit" setting on versus scoring wouldn't let me have an "intro" to my level, as the timer would start as soon as the level did. I'm glad you like it.

You may not have noticed while playing, but there is already a green balloon that is slightly smaller than the others that, when popped, awards the player with 100 points. Originally it took a few grabs to pop, but I found that that became very tedious, and when several players grabbed it rapidly it only registered one grab, and therefore never popped.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll take this into consideration. Perhaps in the next update the default camera minimum zoom will be increased.

Thanks for the feedback of "Tilt, Roll, and Drop". Here's a review.

    VISUALS:
The visuals are good, and the scenery of the balloon area looked pretty amazing. I think it'll be a lot cooler to add something in the sky like the clouds or something that falls.

    SOUND:
The changing musics are good, and there are good music choices too.

    GAMEPLAY:
The grappling hook balloon ride is radical and good enough to be a versus level. Good use of score giver and emitter.

    OVERALL:
A good versus level. A yeah vote.
    New level project in works:
    LBPV Level Series Project (TBA)
    LBP2 Final Platforming Project
    LBPK Delta Funland

    hi i played it!
well what can i say... hmmmm
cute idea! and of course it works, was just a bit fast starting at the beginning if you don'T know that you'll get thrown in that fast so i died the first time very soon.
as well i think its a funny idea to add filterseffects but i think you should not do that with a glass with effects on it. do other kinds of lights, like dark skin, bright skin, or speiclal colors. - how aobut that?

    other than that - fun!
    a 7/10 ^^

i would be happy if you would do a small feedback on my skunk bunny adventures level linked in my signature thank you!
