Default Beware of the 'captured' POD - it can destroy your profile

This is just a warning that most of you won't need, but we need to start educating.

There are levels out there with the 'captured' POD item, the using of which allows you to bring create items into your own POD.

Using this you can easily and accidentally destroy your profile

Unfortunately some items will make the pod disappear, or be destroyed, others will block Sackboy from spawning or kill him, and you will be unable to reset the POD. There is currently no fix other than to delete it and start again.

So use it at your own risk

We will have a fix for this soon, and fix existing broken PODS - if you have a broken pod now, you can wait for this patch to arrive, but there is no date for that at this time, it could be days, it could be longer.

    please spread the word!

    Thanks

Thanks Spaff. I'm glad Mm has been speaking out on this as well as a cure coming soon.

Do you want us to be Good Griefing levels that are giving this away as well? ..or are you guys shutting them down? Just curious..

    Thanks!

I saw one yesterday and saved it in my queue. I will send a message to the person who has the level and tell him of the danger it can cause.

I didn't play it because I thought something like this would happen, but it would be great if you could impliment the feature safely sometime. It'd make chillin' with friends more fun, plus you'd have a space to test create stuff before putting it in a level

  7. Thanks!

    Frankly,
Yes it might corrupt your pod,
but that doesnt say anything about importing the pod into your level..
    right?

But why look for a loop hole in the first place? Could just, you know, leave it alone and not try to play with it. Since it was never meant to be in the game in the first place. At least not in this way.
Then again, maybe I took your post wrong, and you're simply concerned because you're trying to create with it. If that's the case then yes, an answer to that question would be nice. Should everyone who has it in levels just go ahead and delete it or not, for feat it will corrupt the file by just owning it.

I am atm re-creating the pod for a level of mine,
having the actual pod next to me makes the process a lot easier.

Me and my friends (redsooty9 & Gluuey) are finding a semi fix a new thread will be made once we got the "stuff"...

EDIT: I found a semi-fix for the Pod Glitch, It's another pod with a few emitters emitting different "things" that ether gets you Pod back to normal or it gives you your Pod back if you deleted it. But I have only tested it out once, so no, I will not make a level containing the Pod

The way I see it, this is a glitch like the old material property glitch and theck/thack. You can use it to give you more creative options that Mm never intended, but keep in mind that because Mm never intended them, they may carry risks that Mm never intended. Taking create objects, materials, etc into your actual pod via this glitch is especially risky (as Spaff has pointed out), but not necessarily against any rules. Using the pod as an object in a level is probably reasonably safe, but I would back up my profile first just in case.

The only thing about this that would be against the rules would be publicly telling how to import the pod or any other object from a beta profile.

Default I have it But I don't want it

Hi I have a question about this Captured pod thing just yesterday I accidentally came across a community level called [LBP2] HIGH SCHOOL and as a prize for completing that you are rewarded with a captured pod and PS3 Controller, I was wondering if there were any adverse effects if I deleted the pod and controller From my community Objects or moved them under a different category, I really don't want it in my possetion but I don't want to delete it if doing so could effect my profile.

Well those objects alone are harmless or else you start using it to customize the pod (that needs specific procedure) and you need to customize it in wrong way to break profile, controller is just a decoration that don't effect anything ;] as they are act like normal object deleting wont effect profile at all, again only customizing pod is dangers, i don't know how the mention patch will effect them, but assuming that there lot of not aware what happens they probably won't make it destroy profile (i hope)

Oh okay thanks you but I'l probably Back Up my profile and wait for the patch and test what happens if you delete it on a different profile before I try anything, yeah I'm a little paranoid about this.

I'm not proud of this but I've been fooling around with the infamous pod glitch and I've come to this results: Water seems to be the most unstable thing to work with as it crashes the ps3 and "destroys", like Spaff said, your profile completely and you have to delete it and start over again, fortunately you can use your backup and everything goes back to normal. You can tweak gravity, you can lethalize it, plasma makes you invisible, fire makes you "dance" forever but you can't move between layers, electricity doesn't affect you but you can't move, gas pod is invisible and you can fall and respawn everytime, controllinators do work on the pod I made a controllinator with sounds connected to L2, L1, R2, R1 and it did work, player 1 can't use it just p2-p4, sackbots don't appear in the pod, they can be seen only if you emit them and if they're tweaked with an anti-gravity tweaker, also you have to put a destroyer on them or a timer because even if you return to your normal pod they still respawn, bolts, wobble bolts, motors, movers, etc. don't work and can't be seen, switches work but become invisible, you can place decorations out of the pod, you can place a "video filter" by using pixelated glass and it gives a nice effect on the pod, x-ray, outline and silhouette don't seem to work, you can put magic eyes, magic mouths don't work, music doesn't play and mutes the default pod music, score bubbles fall through the pod's floor unless they're glued to the pod itself or have an anti-gravity tweaker, you can place any object but it has to be glued to the pod or it won't be seen, power ups work too, I think it's pretty much it.

I hope that with this info. spaff and the guys and Mm can solve the glitch faster, and also I post this if anyone has doubts about it or curiosity.

I REPEAT, I'm not proud about it but I experimented in order to give info to you guys here at LBPC and the great guys @ Mm.
I apologize for this information's length. XP

EDIT: If you have any questions feel free to ask I'll do my best to answer them.

Can you test what happens if you delete the pod item from your inventory Aguzmanayon93?
never mind, I tested it nothing seems to happen.
but just out of curiosity can you change the material of it?

Truth is the problem with the captured pod is not the object its self. Its using it.

As mentioned some things (water) will case the pod its self to be destroyed. This makes it impossible to play the game, as the pod acts as the games menu system. As long as you avoid destroying the pod, and do not block the spawn/screen/controller it will not kill your game. If you delete the object it will be okay. using it in create will not hurt you, though it is a bit of a hassle to get in and out of (walls are impenetrable, and occupy the foreground layer so you can't fly past them). power ups, holograms, low G and logic all work fine.

Unstable things truly break the pod. Blocking the screen/controller just makes you unable to use the pod-computer (objects do not peal back when you use the PC so they get in the way if they are not in the puffery). As long as you do not destroy the pod, you should be able to bring up another saved pod to clear obstructions (pod rest will not remove objects, you need to restore a pod that was saved the normal way). As mentioned sack bots that don't have kill switches are annoying.

All in all the ability to create in the pod is cool, and MM should implement a SAFE way, rather than removing it all together.
