after my initial reaction I have calmed down enough to post an honest opinion.
the world looks good, and the fact the word portal was mentioned is promising.

Insomniac made Spyro awesome, just like they did with games such as Ratchet & Clank. Because of this topic I went and downloaded the original Spyro on to my PS3 and I am now filled with a nerdy nostalgic joy that is making this one of the best weekends I've had in a long time.

So now, not only is Activision destroying the Spyro franchise through what doesn't even look to be a Spyro game, they are going to use this toy scheme to milk this new "franchise" (It's not Spyro guys, see the full game title), mainly riding off the fact that one of over 30 characters (excuse me?) is actually a recognizable name... Though his new design isn't exactly "recognizable", is it?

I wasn't keen on Spyro's design in TLOS series, but this new design is just terrible. Has anyone watched the trailer for this yet, because if you think this was bad, wait until you see that. It even has AC/DC playing, which just doesn't seem to fit for a game that is aimed at 6-12 year olds.

I, myself love every single Spyro game.
The ones made by Insomanic were great, but – Software has advanced, so should the games. My opinion completely.
The ones made by Activision, in my opinion were amazing. Apart from Spark’s voice changing all the time, they were great. I love stories, and I do hope they decide to make another Trilogy – because the last one they made was amazing, great concept.

This game, in my opinion is great. Apart from the way they’ve made Spyro. I do hope this game has a story with it – and then carries on where you can play with other characters.

One thing I like is how you can use the Portal to make the Toys go into the game – Let’s hope they decide to make more games like this.

I, Myself am a collector. I love games, old to new. My favourite type of games are Fantasy and Adventure games. Spyro hit the nail with that one. Been my favourite game ever since it came out.

One of the things which does disappoint me is there is only one Dragon Character – that could change. It is coming out in Fall, so, what they have as Spyro now, could change to something far greater.
I hope they make many different dragons with different abilities – Such as a Air Dragon, Fire Dragon, ‘Purple Dragon’ (AKA Spyro) which can master all the elements. and others. I also hope they can make this so you can design the characters you would like online, and then purchase them online – This could bring them LOTS of money – and if you don’t like the Spyro they have now, you could possibly create your own (if they allow the feature that is!)

With blogs like this, it is to express opinions towards games and new technology. Everyone is basing it on how Spyro looks – why not look at everything other than Spyro, then Spyro. Add tips which they could do to improve this.

As it is coming out in fall, I myself will be sitting here waiting day in day out for it to come out and to hear updates on it.
I sadly cannot reach the Demo Days they have, as I’m in England myself, which has rather upset me. So, if they do another Demo day – I really hope they decide to do it in Portsmouth in England So I can go try it out!

Other than that, and the nagging, and lecturing and all my opinions in this. I’d like to say:
This game will be a blast – Cannot wait to play and see what is in store over the next coming of months!

Besides Spyro's appearance and the 30 random characters the game looked relatively good. There was a Spyro site once where you could make your own dragon, but I forget what game that site was made for. I know it was an official site though. As PainfulTears said, why couldn't they have just done it with dragons instead of 30 random characters that don't resemble anything that has been in Spyro before?

It is sad, but the only thing I do hope is that unlike Rayman, using Spyro for only one game means it doesn't have people not realising who Spyro is any more because the franchise they're actually trying to promote overshadows him. By the second Raving Rabbids game I had seen people asking who Rayman was, because it wasn't obvious who he was any more, especially as they made him dress as a Rabbid. I'd rather see only one game using Spyro as a booster, than the franchise needing it for a couple of games and as a result ruining his memorability entirely.

If they decide to make a second game named Skylanders: Spyro the 2nd, or something. I hope they write in the guide you get with it the history of Spyro.
I also wouldn't mind waiting for a game which allows us to see the History of Spyro, or just as a mini-game on this game for you to venture round old levels and clips to see what Spyro was about to promote the old games for it.

I wouldn't mind there being the Spyro there is currently (which they've made currently) and one that looks like the old, and the new Spyro. That would just be amence. 3 Different Spyro Characters.
The old one being able to do only Charging and Fire Breath
The new one (From the Legend Series) being able to master elements.
And the one they've made already to master skills to do with Fire, and Charging.

Once this is released, I would get it all... being the gaming addict I am. IDC how much it costs, it looks completely amazing.

I'm a person of many Ideas... so, here is my main Idea.
On Zazzle you can create items of clothing, and items for yourself - from coffee mugs to computer mats.
What I'm trying to say is: Make this so we can make characters by doing this!!! I would LOVE to be able to create a some animals with up to 5 abilities and buy them from around $7 to $15 on the internet. Or maybe even higher. It would be amazing. This would ship in ALOT of money for Activision, and I'm sure if people can't get the Original Spyro design into this game, they will want to create their own Spyro based Character.
We should also be able to save our designs. So we can buy the product more than once so we can give the character to our friends and such.

I am a 16 year old, even though their aiming at this game to be for 7 to 12 (was it?) I will still buy it.
I hope this becomes into a range of gaming, and they make more games for the Skylanders, where we can take our characters into it.

I have a question about this too:
How much roughly will it be? And will we get to choose the 3 characters which come with the package. If not, please include Spyro in there, cannot have the Skylander: Spyro's adventure without having Spyro

Will we be able to deleted the saved data from the toys? Just like you can with Memory Cards from PS2? And will we be able to copy the data onto other ones?

Will we be able to put more than 1 character on the portal at a time? So lets say Spyro and Stealth Elf. Will me and a friend be able to go into world with these 2?

Will there be a set of Skylander games with different things? Such as Dungeons, where we have to travel down them, collect things, etc. etc?

You could make a range of different aged games with the Skylanders.
