LBP 2 came out only a little more than a year ago. I wouldn't call that ages. Not to mention it keeps getting updates and additional content.

Have patience. LBP 2 still has a lot of untapped potential.

yes but the game engine needs a complete rewrite now, the lag on some of the levels is getting a bit daft now that creators are pushing it to its limit

Ha! I highly doubt that! They will make Littlebigplanet 3 for one good reason. Playstation 4. While that won't be for a while, they'd never miss a money making opportunity by making it for PS4. Also, if they are making LBP3, they are probably as I typed this, racking their brains for new ideas. Any questions?

If I was to make a prediction about when "LBP3" might come out I'd say it'd be one of the release games for the PS4. Yes, it is predicted that the PS4 may be released in less than a year, compete with Microsoft and to follow its 6 year trend. Because of the seemingly soon release of the PS4 (or Orbis, as it may be called), I highly doubt we'll see a LBP3 for the PS3 after the release of LBKarting. Also, I'm kind of worried about how Karting might affect LBP2. I mean don't get me wrong or anything, it sounds really fun. I think that if players in Karting can't play LBP2 levels, it will detract from the LBP2 population. Because Karting isn't exactly a "LBP3", players won't be able to completely leave the LBP2 community harmlessly, since in Karting you'll only be able to make and play Karting levels. Even though I predict Karting will only steal AT MOST 1/6 of the LBP2 pop. at any given time, I still think that's significant enough to notice a decrease in playership. Then again, maybe another LBP game before the LBP3 release on the PS4 is a good thing, since it may give MM a little extra profit to spend on LBP3. I dunno. Also, I bet some brilliant mind will come up with some way to make a 3D shooter in Karting instead of an actual Karting level, lol.

By the way, does anyone know if MM will be giving out Beta codes for Karting?

I hope a PS4 doesn't come out for a while, games are expensive enough to make know. With PS4 we'd probably be seeing $100+ games.

Don't worry about ps4 any time soon, your predictions of "less than a year" release are far from true, as sony has literally not said when they will release or any updaes on the project to date, and sony has a lot going on right now, i am sure they are designing the PS4 but that is not going to be released for a while and may i remind everyone that when sony released the PS3 the said "The console is future compatible" meaning it will be the forerunner for sony for a long time to come, now dont get me wrong it has been out for a good while now but i see no slowing in game development for PS3 or Xbox 360, further supporting the idea that it will be a while for the release.

Now about LBP3... unfortunately Media Molecule has already stated that they have no plans to make a LBP3 in the near future, they have yet to even start formulating any plans, they are focused on many other things aside from LBP, and they also said it might be made by another company entirely.. so no LBP3 soon anyway and if it is as different from LBP1 to 2 we can expect to be confused for months as we go over all of the new logic and who knows what else, can it really get more complex than LBP2? yes but i can't even imagine what it would be like.

Unless you've disowned LBP kart from the LBP series, I'm sure that's not what I call "stepping away from LBP". And stop being pessismistic, I hate that. And yes, that is not being "realistic", that's just plain pessimism. The realistic reaction is like "I'm sure they'll make it someday but not really soon."

Media Molecule isn't directly working on LBP Karting, Sony has the MNR people doing it.

If Media Molecule has come out and said that they're stepping away from LBP, then that's enough for me to believe that at least their next project won't be LBP related. It might be in the same creative vein, but I'd be surprised if they went straight to LBP3 next.
