I really liked this series. It had beautiful scenery, great story and some fun platforming. It felt like a game, to be honest. Amazing job!

Great little game, nice design etc.

Chapter one, really nice. Like the world, scenery, design and characters. However I did fall off the map and so did not complete it.

Chapter two, nice design again. But there was not that much to do, no real adventure.

Chapter three, Nice movie, well designed and shot.

Chapter 4 One problem I did have was it was just a little short. Maybe a few more rooms would be good )

Over the levels were generally very visually pleasing and I like the layout, not many places to get stuck. With exception of me falling off the map.
The only thing maybe I would add is more of a challenge element. A few obstacals or traps. I kind of lost what the story was about.

Thanks for the feedback everyone @TimeH33, yeah I understand if you feel like there wasn't enough platforming rooms in the factory. The cutscenes took a lot of memory and didn't leave much room for obstacles, but I tried to make them unique and challenging to add a bit of gameplay to the experience Thanks for checking out the levels

Yea that's fair enough, don't get me wrong they are all great levels. I don't think I done myself any favours as I started with the 4th Chapter then the 3rd then the 1st then the 2nd. So Alot of it was my own n00by fault lol.

  14. Thanks!

Hey, Bender. Welcome to LBPC. You made fantastic levels back in LBP1, and you still have that potential in LBP2.

    VISUALS:
The material choices and layer glitch looked fantastic. The blue lighting looks really cool, and the cinematic sequences looked spectacular. I think you need to somehow shorten a few scenes a bit.

    SOUND:
    Great music choices.

    GAMEPLAY:
The series has pretty good gameplay. The real water part could have use more than just swimming though, but the rest is good enough. The anti-gravity part at the very beginning of part 1 is ingenious.

    OVERALL:
The gameplay doesn't match the greatness of your Lego levels and LBP1 levels, but the level has excellent story, visuals, and cinematic scenes. A yeah vote, a heart, and a positive review.

Hey, wow.... didn't realize there was a thread for this. I played it the other day randomly.... and found it to be really entertaining - in face, left a message on the level. It had a different feel to it.... interactive fiction with some interesting gameplay thrown in-between. Great balance between the two. Also, I loved the way I would walk up to a house and pop into it. Moving between rooms in some areas was also a great mechanic.

Great series, bean meaning to put a post on this thread but the only spare time I just create. Anyway great levels and good use of sackbots trying to learn how to use them myself and you really helped me with some ideas, wouldn't mind somelike you showing me what to do. I felt like it was missing a bit of something in areas, it more movies then the needed platform areas but great anyway. I loved the big zommed out view in the grappling hook and bounce pad areas. Your characters were amazing! absoulty awesome, well done on those too. Looking forward to see some more levels from you, and if you didn't see i left a comment on one of the later levels. If you really wouldn't mind could you f4f Ruins of Albion (in my sig). Can't wait for another of your levels to play

  20. Thanks!

thanks for the great feedback everyone! I will try to add a bit more gameplay in my next level, maybe by shortening the cutscenes. It's fun to add cutscenes in levels and i think it is one of the coolest new features in the game, but it fills the thermo fast! Lol thanks for playing, I think I f4f everyones requested levels so far, great levels. Let me know if I forgot anyone. Thanks

Perhaps I was a bit too blunt in the comments I left on your levels... Sorry by the way, I didn't really mean to insult. Anyways, here are some things I think you should keep in mind for your next series.

-To start off, why bother having a low gravity section for the first part of the first level? It didn't seem necessary and I'm pretty sure you could have thought of a more appropriate obstacle. The obstacles should be consistent, not random.

-You should really, really play test your levels more. I managed to break, fall out, or majorly screw up the gameplay on several occasions. I'd refine the logic used, because whenever I passed the same character again it'd replay the cut-scene (which is irritating mind you).

-What is the point of the teleportation? It's pretty awkward to say the least. More appropriate transition methods could be used.

-The notes were absolutely pointless I'm sorry to say. Not only did they look out of place, they stated information already obvious to the player. The average LBP player does not need the obvious pointed out.

The series overall was pretty weak. It just seemed rushed and incoherent, with a incredibly anti-climatic ending to boot. The gameplay was generic and uninspired, as was the story. The visuals were decent, if a bit bland. I know you'll probably ignore this, but you're not a terrible creator. You're certainly capable of making a decent series. Put more time and effort into creating and play testing. It might also help if you have friends (who aren't yes men) play test as well, as they'd provide valuable feedback. So, what I'm getting at is you shouldn't blindly publish a rushed level and expect praise. Put more effort into your levels and I'm sure they'd be great.

    Cynically yours, bonner123.

hey Bender, first of all thanks for your feedback

I don't know if you realized it, but i already played your Pure Fanatsy levels, hearted them and gave a short review
So i will no give a more detailed feedback.

To begin with, I really liked the charakters, there all differnt and each one is very unique
I especially liked the snow guy and the little one they're great (sry for not remembering their names)
The Story is nice and touching, somehow reminds me of the good old days playing final fantasy on the ps

Good level design, great atmosphere along with nice music.
I coulnd'nt find any negative aspects

Im looking forward to see more, youve got quite some talent in story telling

    So far,

Okay, I was playing through this and instantly noticed the visual style is somewhat similar to mine. n_n It has a nice story even tho each level feels a little bit short.

If I had to say anything I would mention that the camera can be really hard in times but I don't know how avoidable that is.
Perhaps if you have any thermo left, use it to add a bit more detail into the environment to really submerse the player in your world.

Keep up the good works hope to see some nice future levels from ya n_n

Thanks a lot for the feedback DragonHunterEx and Dark-Match. @Dark-Match, yeah I know what you mean about the cameras... In most of the platforming areas, the camera is zoomed way out with no player tracking. It allows the sections to be more multiplayer friendly although it can cause the camera to switch angles quickly. Also, in some areas I used a trick to have multiple camera zones display the same camera angles so that there would be different camera angles within the same vertical plane but not horizontal... Thanks for the suggestions, I think that I will try to add some more detail in the levels. it is a bit plain in some areas like the snow covered mountains. I might be able to think of something that will add some realism. Thanks again for the great feedback!

Hi! Played through all four levels a few hours ago, here are my thoughts:

First off, I initially thought I'd steer clear of movie and cutscene-driven levels in LBP2, but I must say they've started to grow on me, and levels like these are the main reasons why. Excellent camera work is something you don't appreciate until try making it yourself, and I admit that I'm pretty dismal at it, so seeing well-made story sequences involving cutscenes was what kept me going through this level series. The backgrounds were nicely detailed, although sometimes he camera was zoomed out pretty far, which resulted in less visible detail, but this was actually mostly apparent during the interactive sequences.

That said, I'd have preferred that the few occasions where you actually get to control Sackboy were a little more involving and unique. Some felt like they were merely added to get the player from cutscene area A to cutscene area B. Even if thermo issues prevented you from adding complex platforming segments, something that tests the player's reflexes a bit more after watching through some of the excellent non-interactive stuff would've been a welcome addition.

As said before, the camera work was top-notch, my only hint for improvement would be to add a fade-out effect to the teleporters to make them feel less sudden and out of place. This is especially the case where teleporting was used to convey the passing of time, like the sleep transition in the first level. Also, two typos were spotted during some of the dialogue sequences on the ship, which should be quick fixes: there's a note saying "crows nest" when it should be "crow's nest", and I'm not even sure if I should mention the other, since seeing the fear on everyone's faces while the words "ICE BURG!!!!" were uttered made me chuckle. Anyway, the correct spelling would be "iceberg".

I was hoping for a big boss battle on the last level, which - when it turned out that Sackboy would be doing all the dirty work on his own - was a little anticlimactic, still, the series overall left me with a satisfying feeling. Even so, if you can find the room in that level to add an interactive boss battle, I'd gladly revisit it just to show the evil overlord who's boss. =)

Overall, nice work on the series, even though it wasn't one of those interactive kind of levels I like, I admired the effort on the cutscenes.

I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at the F4F level in my sig in return. Thanks!

thanks for the detailed review sny I changed the 'iceberg' part lol. I should've looked it up in the dictionary, thanks. I thought about a boss battle at the end, but then I thought the series was probably too cinematic for a boss with a lot of gameplay at the end. I do have a bit more thermo that could be used to create another platforming room, so I might create an addition for some more gameplay in the first section of the Factory. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the series, I will queue your level and leave some feedback soon.
