Hey man I loved the level. Although it was completely unoriginal, it looked like it was professionally made. I've always enjoyed Jonzian platforming and I this felt just like a VelcroJonze level (which is a good thing).I didn't get to finish the level because after grabbing the hexagon or octagon grabbable brown shape, it pulled me up but got stuck at the top of the cliff. I ended up dying and going back down to the spawn where it should have worked fine, but the pulley was stuck at the top and there was no way to bring it down. (I had the high-score at the time too so it's a shame I couldn't finish it). I didn't have time to restart the level but it was definitely a step-up from your previous levels. I gave it
but no heart since it lacked originality. Great work here.
You should seriously start capitalizing the first letters of the words in your titles like books do, it just looks better and more professional and you're bound to get more plays. For example, this would be titled, "The Tree of Life".

Oh well don't republish JUST for me..but if you're making those other changes I think it's definitely a good idea to capitalize the letters. Also, do the same as if you were typing a paper and writing complete sentences in the description of the level. It looks nice and I can guarantee it will give you more plays.

Zonze, definitely play it, it's one of the best on PSP to come out so far this year.Hey buddy!! This sounds really great. As soon as the psn is back up, I will DL this and leave you some feedback!
nsudirr...cant spell your name... I thought this was a great level! I enjoyed the platforming and your corner editing was spot on. The only thing that agitated me was the part with the wheels that shoot you up. I died so many times on it I left with a fraction of my original score, which was at the top 2 or 3 before. No next time I suggest something like beta testing or making things not quite as difficult. ****
.
Oh, not sure if you did this, but if you attach a player sensor to the giant wheel at the end, you'll save level space and and it becomes more efficient or something, that's what the story levels did and Ace says to do.My PSP broke, so I'm leaving the PSP side. See ya guys. My levels however will still be up.

Thanks VJ and Ricky.
Ill be doing beta tests next time and follow your advice about the wheels shooting up and the giant spiked wheel.
i cant change the big wheel anymore because it lags like crazy if i change anything.
Ill think of something different in my next level though.
Fixed level published.

Did ya get that thing I sent you?
Feedback. You requested it. I said "as soon as PSN is back up." I'm late, but here you go.
Initial Impressions
The moment I entered the level, your inspiration shone through. It looked and felt like a VJ level, and anyone who thinks that's a bad thing can take a long walk on a short pier.
Gameplay
Wow, this is an unforgiving level. I couldn't help but laugh at the irony of "The Tree of Life" taking mine repeatedly. Along those lines, however, I should say there was at least one place I would have liked to see a checkpoint -- after the first spinning wheel at the start of the level (instead of after the launchers before it, perhaps?). The wheel itself was not challenging, but my first time through, I kept getting propelled by the spinning platforms, making me overshoot my jumps and land in the Horrible Gas. Which is fine, it's meant to be a challenging bit, but it meant I had to keep running down that empty hallway, grabbing the wheel, etc, etc...
The score bubble emitters were awfully close together, by the way -- not every section needs to have one. They should be bonuses for the observant, IMO, not just free points.
Along those lines, there were very few combos. A nice long chain of bubbles makes for happy platforming.
Visuals
No complaints here. Your corner editing is nicely done, and the choice of materials very complimentary. Again, it's very easy to see the VelcroJonze inspiration here.
Audio
Not much to comment on here -- good choice of music.
Stuff I Really Liked
That bit with the grabby-ceiling attached to pistons was spiffy. The big giant wheel with the spikes on the inside? Brutal and spiffy.
Stuff That Can Die in a Fire
That section with all the spinning wheels. BRUTAL.
Stuff I Would Have Liked
A bit more room for exploration would have been nice. Hide some of those emitters -- it makes finding them more satisfying. (The one in the multiple-spinning-wheels area was probably my favorite because it was so easy to overlook.)
Overall
A very solid, nicely built level. It gets difficult at very odd times, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For creative use of tools that made me rethink the way I play LBP, I gave it five stars and a heart. Very nice.
Ricky -- What attaching a player sensor does is cut down on lag -- any time you can avoid having things off screen continue to animate as though they're on screen, you should.Last edited by BlackWolfe; 05-20-2011 at 01:06 PM. Reason: On a PC, can make longer post.

Hey Buddy!!

This is a great level you made. Very fun gameplay from start to finish, with nice bubble chains along the way. There were some parts that felt alot like one of my levels, but that's okay. I am glad my style of platformers has caught on a little.
Your level designs were slick, and had a great flow to them. It had really clean lines that are easy on the eye.
Your last couple levels have really impressed me. I only hope you don't get in a rut like I did, or I do making the same style level, over and over.
Variety is a good thing. But platformers are hella fun!!
Five stars and a heart! I hearted you as creator when I played Paper Zone a couple months back!
Keep up the great work my friend!!

Wow, this level could serve as a worth adversary to a Jonze level, though while playing it, I did encounter a thought that really made me become skeptical about the originality though. More details in the feedback...
The Bads
A Festering of Unoriginality
-As I was casually enjoying the level, I did take note of something that unappeased me; the lack of creativity. As a lover and player of all of Velcro Jonze's creations, I've played every one of his levels over twice. The thing is that I also know his style of platforming, and a lot of the obstacles that I had to overcome corresponded to the ones I previously encountered while enjoying VJ's levels. So, I could detect many similarities. Now, I know you're thinking "Isn't being like VJ a good thing?" although that is a definite yes, it's not very good to mimic another's style, as it deviates your advancement as a creator. Creating is a challenge, recreating is simple. Please don't take this the wrong way.
The Goods
A personal Best
-In my opinion, this is your best level. Although this contradicts the aforementioned unoriginality, even after diminishing my appreciation to this level, it still shines through as your accolade level. I sincerely regret not playing this a while ago. You have my apologies. ;-)
Straight A Visuals
-Although their were some corners left uneditted, the overall appearnce of this level was delightful. I can praise beautiful aesthetic when I see it.
The Invigorating Gameplay
-A smashing job was done on the gameplay. It keeps you involved the whole way through the level, and leaves you wanting more at the level's end.
The What
Kool Buwble Combows, maeks me wawnt teh hie scowr ;P
-I liked the Bubble Combos. O_O
Well, you got 5
of those, and 1 of
that!
I'll also, Creator Heart you next time I'm online, you deserve some more recognition as a Creator.

Here's your review you asked for...
The Tree Of Life
nysudyrgh
Score: 7.2/10
Rating:

Legend tells about the Tree Of Life. The ones able to traverse it will be rewarded with infinite bubbles.
Spoiler - The Tree Of Life
Story:
Nope, nada. N/A
Gameplay:
Fun gameplay at a lot of the time, but it seems like there was a lot of walking. Sometimes it was challenging, and I like a challenge. 8/10
Music/Sound Effects:
No sound effects, great levels have a ton of Fx. You need to put more into your level. Music was alright, but it fit more of a desety level. 4/10
Astheitics:
Material choice was a good, safe, choice for the theme. There were no stickers and no background, which the level could have used some of both. The corner editing was good. 6.5/10
Originality:
Your generic platformer. Though I did see some originality on some of the obstacles. 5/10
Misc:
Everything worked fine. 10/10
Don't let the score fool you, with some polishing on the asthetics and sounds, this level could have been much better overall. Nysudygrh has potential to make a great platformer. If your looking for something new, try Tree Of Life by nysudygrh.Last edited by Random; 05-24-2011 at 04:30 PM.
