Default Inside Eve 1: Apple Mind Mush

My second level. A lot less poo oriented, but just as bizarre. Inspired by Psychonauts and Eve's garden. It's a little rough and more visual, but I hope the experience is fresh. You'll need some grapple skills, but it shouldn't be that hard.

    There's two secret areas!

    It's got..

    Craaaaazy Eve!

    Romance!

    Giant floating Super Egos!

    Epic boss fight!

I'll make a sequel soon! Enjoy! (and let me know of glaring bugs. I've been fighting with the logic for so long I'm starting to hallucinate haha)

edit: Fixed up some more things and added anothe super secret room. They're both tricky to get to (or not?).

    hi! i played your level
here you go with your feedback:

    +++:
    - negativitron goo (haha! loved that)
    - bunnies are melty? lol - i am a bunny while i play (did she ate bunnies?)
    - great use of the grappling hook
    - good boss fight

    ---:
    - the cut film can be triggered again and again (for example with the first sight of the dr.) change that (on all films) (it can get very annoying if you are on the beginning of the inside part)
    - guess where i fell when i jumped down to test it? at the very beginning of the level. (prevent players to jump down there or make gas so they respawn more closer to the doc and eve again.)
    - you forgot to add a grappling hook in front of a checkpoint... had to go back to get one again. (also tweek them unremovable if you don't allready made that)
oh i see now ther are some grappling hood powerups hidden... don't make that.
    - don't do that real life photos. the person could sue you.
    - don't show the path of the next road in a cam move fully. it spoilers what will happen next and destroys the fun.
    - i first don't know what to do to win against the boss
    - don't block the view at the score board. i wanted to know my points! don't saw them.

    ideas/tipps:
    - "sack come quick!" hm ok! come where? the source of the magic mouth gives no hint
    - i got respawned at the beginning when i fall into the purple gas. (thats way to far, add more checkpoints
    - the sound is played again if you get out of the checkpoint. (if you see the goo first) (make it only playable once)
    - try to place the bubbles in a way how good players could chain them very long. that makes added fun!
    - let him say something like climb up the machine or someting. if i wait downstairs nothing happens of course heh
    - ouhm don't let her say "taste my eggs". that sounds perverted - heh
    - inside at the beginning (the first green ball) there is a visible tweeker - i know you want the player to know. but... let her say something to hint a grab there.
    - connect your checkpoints with a player sensor. so the player can't miss them. (wide reach)
    - make the evil eve burn and look eeeevil (use stickers on her or something )
    - if you don't want to give hints how to destroy the boss, try to make a life bar for each thing to grab so people see fast what is doing something. (just letting the lights go out a bit less is not working as this. i don't saw that at the beginning) (let the evil bot explode when she says NOOOO)
    - include something like a "see you in part2" or something. also: just the "1" in the title won't stop people to forget that it is part one.... maybe add "part" in the title as well.

    rating:
    7/10 - fun idea!
    - yay, but needs a bit work

    F4F:
    - skunk bunny adventures (the link is in my siganture) thank you!!
(this level includes a close topic to that as well, BUT you "CAN NOT" rescue the one if you go inside in my level, sorry)

Hmm, didn't know if I should make the first few cutscenes perm/one-shot, but I guess I'll tweak them since they're unskippable. There's a lot of nuances I haven't thought of, and at the back of my mind I thought people shouldn't have that much trouble with it, but I you make good points. ok, I'll polish it more and play your lvl. ^^

edit: Oh, it's ok, it's my image. I drew it here: http://cheezyweapon.deviantart.com/ I just wish there was a way to get clearer/darker stickers.

Ok, fixed as many little things I could think of. I've made things more blatantly obvious (and funnier imho) haha
If you haven't played it yet, try now. I've just republished it. ^^

ok, I'll play your level soon! ^^

    Hi, Cheezy WEAPON

I tried your level and found it very interesting. It is something like Psychonauts! Very nice and atmospheric level! Great decorations and very cool gameplay! I love level's story and design! In some places it is a little hard to make right jump, but it is not big deal. Will wait for part 2!

If you wish you can try my Sneezies mini-game DEMO - http://lbp.me/v/yrp14p .

I loved the melty bunnies. Great story so far. One of your magic mouths is too far away to hear eve. Change it from positional to global. Before entering Eve's mind there were times where I felt lost. Like i didn't know I needed to go left or up.

Oooooo so that's why she was sounding so muffled during the cutscene.. I was wondering if it was just the global sound button doing it. Ok, easy fix. And I will add a stream of score bubbles too in there (either direction works, but left is the quicker catapult).

I'm also adding another secret area! (It'll be tricky to get to, but it'll be worth it.)

edit: um.. strangely enough.. magic mouths don't have that option. sfx do, but not the mouths? weird. um.. hmm.. how can I get around this.. I put them in the sequencer, but even mouths by themselves don't have the option..

Yeah I checked they don't have the option. The volume is effected by their placement in your scene.
    Options:
    1) Don't place the mouths in the sequencer. Place them in the scene . Instead place batteries in the sequencer. Have the batteries connected to the mouths.
    2) Or place the sequencer on invisible holographic material. And move it from scene to scene with a tag follower. Place green tags in your level and label them Scene A, Scene B, Scene C. Then in your sequencer Have followers that move to those tags at the appropriate times.

Thanks for the input. ^^ I fixed it by moving the sequencer closer to the player (before it was ON Eve's head, now it's hidden by the player)

I also added another secret little room with it's own mini game!

okay played it,and i got to say, some of the humor was funny. The only problem is i think you left too much big space in the area. Like the white hallway. I also found the boss fight abit hard, when i was suppose to get the left triangle, it was really hard to grab. Please play my level http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/sho...lis-%28DEMO%29

Haha. That was crazy, man! What have you been smoking...? But it's levels like this I really like! Unconventional and weird!
Only thing is that part where you use the grappling hook to go up a slope which has bouncepads that face the wrong direction. That was really annoying and almost made me quit the level. But I know it's difficult trying to balance between what's challenging and plain irritating.

Still. Cool! Man, Eve is scary...

The bouncepads were there just to get you back up to the overhang. XD
Y'know.. I'm going to change that and make them face straight-up. It's hard to tell if something is challenging or just unfair..

hm.. that hallway is supposed to be ugly lol I guess I can add some foliage between the museum and Super Ego Eve to not have the gap.

ok, I fixed up the bunny area quite a bit. It should be easier to get up the vertical areas. The white museum is a little spruced up.

From here on out will be small fixes. The thermo is one notch away from overheating! hahaha

enjoy everyone! Now onto the sequel!

I don't know if anybody mentioned it yet. but I was able to keep grabbing the boss to kill it quickly... Dunno if that was intentional or not. Maybe you could just trigger it with an impact sensor? Not that you have to change it.

nah, it's ok. It's quicker that way. If I put a limit on it, the boss would take forever. It's already got gas on the sides. (Is it too easy now? haha) Find the secrets!

whoa i didnt expect your level to be so crazy

its really nice to play such a weird and terrifying level which works fine.
So the atmo was good, it goes in the same direction as my incubo level i guess

I just didnt get one thing: I found the room with the little eve but couldnt do anything there...is it supposed to be just for the atmosphere or did i miss something?

    Overall a nice level
