I actually played his a while back but did not have a chnace to post my thoughts. I love the visual style here, looked exactly like the movie (which I am also a big fan of) and you had a lot of the major scenes from the film in there as well. There was a great overall polish and it all just worked. Most of the other things have been covered by others so great work and I look forward to the next one![]()

Hi,
I just played the level, and i must admit that the visuals fit perfectly with the Sin City theme of your level (at least until the last room -the café- that i think is to much colored)! An overall great work.
I look forward for your next creations

Hmm, I think your totally right about the cafe/lounge scene at the end Takelow. There definitely is too much colour there. I might have to revamp it. Once I get back to my Sin City series I'll be sure to polish this level up. For now I have to start playing other levels again (if my PSN would ever connect ><).

Ok i played your level a couple times and this is what i think
Pros
- i loved the black and white effect with the red effect it was perfect for the sin city theme. And it reminded me of my level
- The action was awsome i really got into it when i started killing the cops lol
-The heilcopters were a cool effect also
-and the huge sin city sign was well done, i took a pic of it
Cons
- at first in the beginning of the level i got confused where to go, i didnt see the drop thing
- it was pretty short you should have put more action areas in it
Other than that fun level i gave it a four star

I went in and played this last night and MAN! You got the visuals down beautifully.
Pros:
Great ambience.
Using the doll as the girl at the beginning with the pop-up text is one of those moments that just worked perfectly. I laughed at that one
GREAT looking helicopter!
The actual sequences were well done
Cons:
The only con I can think of is that the save point is over the drop at the beginning. Not that you should change it (it was pretty fun), but from an objective standpoint here's what happened to me:
I fell down the first time but didn't realize if I didn't keep holding on I would die. Since I wasn't paying attention to the grab-thingy when it fell I didn't know where it was. So I kept dropping and dieing over and over and over until the game was over.... the 2nd time I played it I payed attention and went "Oh, THAT'S what I'm supposed to do!". But once again, not sure if you should change it - the situation was pretty funny.
I would complain about the length, but since you are making it a series I would rather wait and see how the rest of the series goes.
Great game, and really well-done visuals! After seeing this and the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes I had to add you heart you as a creator.F4F Participant

Hey thanks guys!
Yeah surprisingly enough this level is really the most liked level out of the 5 (or 6 if you count SEMINAL GEMINI) levels that I've created even though it was possibly the most frustrating to make. I really tried to do homage to the Frank Miller's work but with my limited knowledge of the create mode at the time I struggled mightily. I've been planning on a second level for a couple months now but found myself entraptured by other levels and reviewing other people's levels.
Anyway, thanks alot for the comments guys. Appreciate it a lot!

Looks cool, except I'd hide your mouths, they kind of take away from the experience.
How did you make the project black and white while maintaining color?D2 Optimistic The Video Game First LittleBigPlanet Game to feature a Custom soundtrack

Yeah the mouth that was visible is hidden now. That's a pretty old video haha
It's in the colour correlation. There is a neat setting there that worked perfectly for my level. I also had to be pretty careful with the materials I used to produce the desired effect.

As a big fan of the Marv story from SinCity I was expecting to be dissapointed with a LBP version of his tale but you really made the movies style and Marv's power shine throught.
First off I'd suggest anyone who plays the level to wear a red cape or something like that, It looked really cool flowing behind me as I played it..but besides that the level makes its money in the first 2/3 or so. Busting through doors, swinging down shafts, kicking away cop cars and dodging carpet bombing choppers is way cool. That part of the level 5/5 and a heart for the level and the author.
Now the part with the 3 cops before bar and the bar itself seems to be from a different level/idea. If Marv was just kicking apart cop cars then 3 little cops shouldn't do anything to him. Maybe its was a little burnout from the work you'd already put into the level (I know Ive been there) but its a big drop off in story, play and atmosphere at that point. Maybe do something like drop 10-15 cardboard cops on Marv so you have to push through them to get to the bar. In the bar, though it brings back memories of Sin City, I must point out Marv would not fetching a beer for anyone....you should have another mm pop up after he asks for a beer having Marv say something gruf and then the player has to drag the patron to the beer, instead of the beer to the patron
Hope I'm not stepping on creative shoes with my suggestions, your first part just really left me wanting more, which is always a good sign.PSN: Ozwald_the_cat

Thanks a lot for the feedback Oz
You may have noticed that I kept with the novel/movie storyline in it's entirety until the bar scene and the cops. I simply didn't know how to incorporate Marv's trip to the bar and the dialogue that followed so I copped out (quite literally) and added a few of my own elements.
But you're right, I was really, really burned out by that point because the whole stairwell/helicopter/entrance really took A LOT of effort as a pretty new creator, especially getting the lighting right. I published this level about 2 months back (at least), so I won't be revising it, but in hindsight I wish I took a completely different approach to the ending of that short part of his tale.
But again, thanks for the praise, and I'm glad an avid fan of Marv's story found this level a lot of fun

It didn't really seem to finish in story terms. Wasn't there a bit more to add on? Like that weird guys house. And then the other guy in a high position, inwhich you get caught and get shot while killing that guy...
:/
Excellent level though.

This level looks really cool and is true to the film/comic but unfortunately there's not enough gameplay in it... You fall through a building, jump on 3 police cars, hold the joystick right, switch layers to get around enemies... then that's pretty much it.
So to sum things up
PRO:
Amazing style
Nice color correction techniques
CON:
Not enough gameplay!
As an interactive and stylish cutscene, this level excels. On the other hand, it's over before you know it. It sucks because the small amount of gameplay there is is really fun! It's a very visually-stimulating 2-3 minutes.Last edited by Snowspot; 01-28-2009 at 08:11 PM.
