LBPC Crown Contest #5 - The Results
Almost 2 months ago we announced a contest that we thought would be the biggest one yet. The idea was ambitious and unique and we expected there to be many murderous Mickeys, Evil Pinnochios and slave-driving Snow Whites. What we got instead was a tiny handful of really exceptional levels that embraced the theme and created something truly special. To these creators, we thank you.
There were moments in some of these levels that truly took our breath away. A massive, insane Geppeto was chilling. A lovingly created story-book made us smile. Impressive animation really showed the individual art of the creators whether that was a wooden Pinnochio, demonic Walt or many more. These select few levels made this contest very hard to judge and we would gladly give all the top contenders a crown but there can only be one!
With sadness in our hearts we have to say goodbye to Mother-Misty, an invaluable companion, a great friend and a great person. You'll be absolutely missed. We wish you the best for your work and the things to come! The doors of the Crew are always open for you, as are our hearts!
Also, the guys of Sackinima couldn't record a video this time too, life is hard, and time consuming, we hope you can forgive us this little absence. We apologize sincerely.
1st Place
(LBPC5) Lordwarblade's Pinocchio 1 Player only
bylordwarblade
Strictly 1 Player Only. The dark tale of Pinocchio the wooden puppet that wanted to become a real boy of flesh and bone. Geppeto is kidnapped by the evil Puppet master who is forcing him to make haunted puppets for his show. You must find and rescue Geppeto. Also thanks to Mr_Fusion for his ongoing help with this level.
2nd Place
Frightasia: Walt's Dungeon (LBPC5)
byPookachoo
Have you ever wondered what became of the characters and entities from Fantasia, after all this time? This dungeon - I mean level - has several short cutscenes and one link. The final boss is not an actual battle, more an interactive cutscene. (for a closer look at the characters, see the gallery level)
3rd Place
(LBPC5) - Pinocchio
bypapanurgle123
Explore Geppeto's workshop and survive the wrath of his dark abominations....... (Created by papanurgle123 and Donal222) (Update: Spawn killing fixed)
Honourable Mentions!
(In no particular order)
(LBPC5) Peter Pan by tjaldex225
[LBPC5] Maho no Tsue by konnron
[LBPC5] Tinks Tale of Seven Dwarfs by SonOfSwim
Congratulations lordwarblade! Your level is one of those that pushes the boundaries forward, one of those that leads the way for upcoming creations!.
Pookacho, what a lovely level! (if we can say it for a level with a sinister mood), it fought until the eleventh hour for the winning spot, you did an amazing job!
Papanurgle, impressive level indeed, moody, gritty, tense! Oozing evilness! Nicely done, seriously!!!
We'd also like to say a big thank you to all the other contenders. Your levels were a joy to play. Keep up the good work!!!
Remember, round six is still open for entry here!!! And can always follow the LBPC Contest Crew on Twitter!
So if you want your dose of freaky Disney stuff, queue these levels, go play and enjoy!
Sincerely,
joey, Leather-Monkey, Moleynator, OCK, OmegaSlayer, Psyntens, Shadowriver, shropshirelass, Thegide and Mr_T-Shirt.

Awesome! Big congrats Warblade!
I knew you would do well!
Of course congrats to Pookachoo, papanurgle123 and everyone else who participated in this unique contest.
Very quick results on this one, and I still need to see a few of the others.

Congrats to Lordwarblade for the win and to pookachoo and papanurgle123 to coming in 2nd and 3rd. Also to the rest of the contenders. Very good levels guys and I applaud each and every one of them. My hat's off to the contest crew for another outstanding contest. I picture you guys fighting it out in an arena with this music playing.

Man, when I say that blood has been spilt, I'm not joking.
It has been HARD.
We had 2 weeks of arguments to pick up a level between those 3.
And I'll tell you one thing.
In those kind of scenarios, it's not hard to pick a winner, the hard thing is to pick 2 losers.
And it's something that make all of us judges sad, but we are provided with only 1 code.
It's obvious that a victory for one results in bitterness for the ones that reach so close to the victory, but I encourage everyone to taste the sweet side of it.
They reached so damm close, so it might just be a matter of time before winning a competition.
Time, dedication, love, patience and humbleness.
So, to those who didn't win...
DON'T GIVE UP!
You're awesome! Your time will come, I'm sure!

what's happened with Mother-Misty? Stepping down from LBP and LBPC altogether or just the contest crew?

Nah, he's just busy with work, and that's great news.
We tried to keep him locked inside the Crew for 2 months even if he had to leave earlier
But we had to release him and let him gift the Real World with his amazing talent.

Wow i can't believe it i actually won! I thought because of the rushed logic and the fact there was no sack bots at all it wouldn't quite cut the platforming part of the requirements. I'm so glad to see a whole months constant hard work pay off. It was such a tiring level to make it almost stopped me creating for a long while.
Also congrats Papanurgle and Pookachoo. I knew Papanurgles level would be in the top three.

Difficult call, but personally I think Pookachoo's level should have won. It was much more dynamic.

woooow!!! I'm really happy with the results of this contest, who live a childhood watching Disney movies enjoy too with the levels that were here.
I think the results could not be better, Lorwarblade level is really impressive and original, could not have better adaptation of the story of Pinocchio as what they did Papanurgle123 and Lordwarblade, congratulations guys really i love their levels

Phew! That would have been such a tough call. There were so many great moments and design elements in all the LBPC5 stages I played, even though I'm a little biased toward Lordwarblade's stage, and I would have hated to choose between that and Pookachoo's!

I feel you on this.
I don't want to say lies.
In this contest no level was a "masterpiece" and everyone of them had some flaws.
So, we REALLY REALLY had a crap time with lots of arguments and more than one voting, because there wasn't a clear winner.
As I said, we are TRULY sad because we know we have to cut a line between things so close that we ALREADY knew that we would have hurt someone, and we're sorry for that, and it's what makes our work hard.
So...mine and the whole crew warmest thoughts go to pookacho and papanurgle, together with a virtual hug.
Losing is sad, but look at what you accomplished, it's never easy to reach the first spots in a LBP contest.Last edited by OmegaSlayer; 12-10-2011 at 05:55 AM.
