~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Legend of Zelda~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MANY YEARS AGO PRINCE DARKNESS "GANNON" STOLE ONE OF THE TRIFORCE WITH POWER. PRINCESS ZELDA HAD ONE OF THE TRIFORCE WITH WISDOM. SHE DIVIDED IT INTO 8 UNITS TO HIDE IT FROM "GANNON" BEFORE SHE WAS CAPTURED. GO FIND THE "8" UNITS "LINK" TO SAVE HER.
Recently I started working on a remake of "The Legend of Zelda". I want to try to recreate the game (at least up until the end of the first dungeon) in every glorious pixel! I have hit one snag though. I am pretty good at copying songs to LBP2 by ear, but it is really hard for me to do 8-Bit songs. So, if anyone can recreate the original theme, or any other songs from "The Legend of Zelda", then that would be awesome. There really isn't that much else to say since it's a remake, other than it'll take a good amount of time to finish.
Here are some pics of what I have done so far...
Title screen is just about done. I had to make the cave structure...things stickers, because of the thermometer, but it still looks good, in my opinion. Also, the waterfall is fully animated, but the piece of the triforce behind the title will remain static, again because of the thermometer. Now I just need that song.
Started working on the background and tiles for the overworld.
Goofed around with the background for the first dungeon, but I don't want to start really focusing on it until the overworld is all done.
Here is the song that I need...
will it just be up to te first dungeon? because i must tell you that exact part has already been made by another LBP creator, i played it before, what would be a real treat is is foyu got a deam to redesign the whole game, it would be a good 20+ levels no doubt but i mean you cant do "The Legend of Zelda" justic by just making a tiny portion of it, its all very nice and fun but i want to play the real game, i know its hard work lol, but if you actually decided to go for it i would even join you, just saying, and i am a pretty good wizz at logic and scenery.
I know about the older Zelda level. It was pretty good, but it was made with 3d blocks of neon and didn't emulate the game well enough {IMO}. Again, not saying it was bad. I loved the level. Also, it was JUST the dungeon and it's entrance. I look to do the overworld leading up to it as well.
And yes, it would be awesome to remake the ENTIRE game, but for right now I am going to focus on remaking the parts leading up to the first dungeon and the dungeon itself. However, if I can get this stuff done in a timely manor, then I will definitely go for remaking the entire game. It's not really the challenge or limitations of LBP2 that will be the hard part about this project, it will be the time. I don't have TONS of free time, so recreating the whole game would just get really dragged out and boring for me if I have to start, stop, start, stop for a month, and than start again. The only reason I was able to get started on this was because I was on break from school.
I also forgot to mention this in the OP, but if all goes well, I will also make a Zelda game engine available with all the needed sprites, tiles, logic etc.Last edited by LBP333; 12-31-2011 at 11:49 AM.
