    Default Prefabs (Useful Premade Stuff)

I’m just curious about what kind of prefabs you creators use if any at all normally.

What is a Prefab? It means already has been premade, it can be almost anything, objects or logic or costumes and so on that are normally useful for more then 1 of your levels. Like lets say you make a custom spring bounce pad like you see in old LBP1 levels a lot. Well instead of hand making them every time you plan on using them in a level, you just pop one out of your popit, edit and re-deco it. Then your done. Much faster then having to remake them every time you need one in a new level your working on.

But my question is what basic prefabs are best to always keep on hand in you people‘s opinions? And the type I’m interested most in is for platformers. It seems like I can spend ages trying to make objects for my levels, and I try to create as many useful prefabs for myself that I can think of… *mew

And I wonder do you people think a specially made level that would give creators basic yet useful premade yet NOT decorated objects that can be used for a lot of basic platfoming levels, would be useful or not for creators? Of course a lot of the fun is creating as much of everything yourself as possible. But sometimes it’s boring to make things you’ve seen before yet need for your level and have to go to the trouble of making it anyways. But I feel very two sided about that idea. One side of me says everything in my level should be hand made by me, the other side says there’s nothing wrong with getting help from the LBP community and friends as so to make the act of creating easier and more fun because it don’t take you quite as long as it would normally…

Also 1 more thing. what type of custom tools do you people like to use? I use things like Invisible Metal Material, Merge Tool. Spike Hazard Material, 3D Layers kit. And lots of other tools really. *mew

The things in my goodies bag that I find useful often are generally just...

    • My PS Move Paintings (Grass, Rocks, Mushrooms)
    • Theck/Thack layer tools, Layer Glitch Cascade, etc...
    • A "Destruction Tool" that basically deletes what it's placed on
    • A spinning white starburst that I can tweak to be any colour
    • A piece of a picket fence, to make fences in seconds
I think that's about it. I forget what I had before my old PS3 died... I had a lot more stuff back then.

I usually don't use any community objects or friends' objects in my levels, unless we're making a level together. Yet... I let friends use my stuff and don't make them give me credit. I should probably stop being so stubborn by rejecting help and making everything by myself all the time. I'd probably get a level finished for once.

    Hmmmm

    Tools:

    Theck
    Thack
    3D layers
Super small checkpoint from the lbp1 days

    Logic:

Tag sensor set to maximum... why we can't toggle maximum is mind boggling

    other stuff:

A bunch of music made by talented people...
lets just say my own music ended up being hurled into a volcano...
    yeah we literally built one...
    but yay references
    Regards
    Dave

I only have a couple of saved logic chips that I've used for seperate levels. One is called "This then that".... ie it only activates when a particular input is activated first. Another is "Selective XOR" - similar to an XOR gate, has 2 inputs and will only activate when one of them is active. However, the input you want to activate the switch is pre defined..... difficult to explain, but I think you're all clever enough to understand.

Wrong. ;P Most creators Don't like using premade Items that they themselves did not make besides glitch and useful custom tools. because almost every creator i know has told me they make and use premade stuff for themselves for their own levels and lots of creators don't mind using useful prefabs their friends send them to use... though they are normally more of a Co-Creator at that point i suppose. :P *mew

And back on topic. I have 100s premade objects for my Dareti and Nowhere Level series in my Popit I've made... So much stuff... but it's never enough. :0
