Also, Amnesia's atmosphere blows everything out of the water.
Oi you! I didn't say Amnesia was bad! I love it (on my second playthrough as a mater-o-fact)! It has a great atmosphere as well! It just didn't scare me as much, that's all...
I never kill the monsters in silent hill anyway. You can just run right past them usually. (I play on hard mode, just because if they DO hit you, you get penalized for it.) As for the weapons they give you, they're are basically useless. They don't do anything. If I absolutely HAVE to kill something I use a melee weapon(they're more powerful for some reason), and that just makes me uneasy, getting close and all. Oh joy, I'm rambling again...
Also what I meant by that, well, horribly phrased explanation is that your character isn't suffering any disorders or brain injuries like you are in Amnesia, and thus stuff is actually happening; not a delusion. Then again, I can see what the developers were thinking: having your character being mentally unstable and therefor making gameplay uneasy. I respect that you find Amnesia the scariest game you've played. You should respect others' too. This isn't a competition.

(By the way, I lol'd my ar$e off at that "wut" pic. )

I didn't find Amnesia scary at all. I think it's overrated as hell. Even though I didn't save anyone, who cares though. In real life I wouldn't save anyone but myself either.

    Hotel 626 > Amnesia.

    Scariest moment in a game:

    Amnesia:

The section in which you had to use the glitchy door slamming technique to get away from the invisible water monster. That, and feeding it body parts as bait D:

I don't know what Hotel 626 is, so I'll have to give a try soon. Also, since we're talking about saving [x] and fighting monsters:

    Penumbra > La Quinta 626

    Here's a quick summary I found.

The site, Hotel 626, requires you to use a webcam, a microphone, and register with the site so that they can immerse you properly into this hellish nightmare. Don't worry it's not that hellish. In fact, it's pretty fun!

The site runs entirely on flash, and utilizes your webcam to make sure you're playing in the proper conditions, namely with all the lights turned off. As a bonus, Hotel 626 is only open at night time, from 6pm to 6am, so you won't be getting out of the creepy factor too easily.

One impressive measure of the game's creativity is the lengths that it goes to create a sense of immersion in the scenario. At the beginning, while registering, you are given the option to allow access to your computer's webcam and microphone; if you do so, both those elements will be used in later levels.

You have to pay attention very carefully for clues in the cinematic scenes that will let you solve puzzles and survive the horror. One stage tells you to flash a goul with your on-screen camera, and one asks you to sing a lullabye. Users with cameras connected will find that the game takes a quick picture of you without you knowing about it. Don’t be surprised to find your picture mixed in with the live action scenes.

Also, near the end of the game, players in the United States can enter their phone numbers and receive a kah-reepy call from a "friend" that will help you escape Hotel 626, so make sure you have your cell nearby.

  10. Thanks!

That's too weak for my tastes.

    1) Google search haunted hotels.
    2) Book a room.
    3) Play a horror game with your new ghost buddy.

Idea of the Year Award now, please.

Eh. I found it far more scary than Amnesia. I guess my brain realizes that it looks too cartoony, thus takes away any scary aspect from the game.

  13. Thanks!

I never played Silent Hill but I kinda want to because it sounds awesome and a big horror game. I like scary games and movies. But most things in games and movies don't really scare me that much. D:
I don't remember other enemies and there's probably another game that scared me a little more than this But this kinda stood out when I thought of something that scared me is Resident Evil 5 on Professional + the Chain-Saw guy.. You're walking, scared something is gonna pop out at you on the next corner, then you hear a chainsaw rev up and the way it gets louder as he comes for you is horrifying. You just know that if he gets close to you he chain-saws your head off.. The way he walks towards you with it just creeps me out.

Spoiler Spoiler - Scary..(A little bloody so I put it in a spoiler

I never played RE5. I heard the series started to fall after 4 was released. The only ones that I've played are 1, 2 (beaten), and 4.

Chainsaw guy on 4 was scary. Also, so was the 2 chainsaw women.

How about the Licker jumping through the mirror in RE2? I knew that was coming and it still made me (and a bunch of my friends) jump out of our skin!

  17. Thanks!

That part was pretty creepy. Especially because it was the first different enemy in the game. After the first licker, you knew it was going to be more than just your run-of-the-mill zombie game.
