I never said it was a crime. I'm just disappointed in how it has evolved. You guys admitted yourselves: you didn't make the levels out of sheer passion or creativity; you made them for easy praise. These levels are easy replay value accumulators because of the high score concept in them. You're basically pulling a console/platform move here and adding 'achievements' in order to give a level replay value over actual gameplay or originality. I'm perfectly fine when people make levels for the sheer fun of it, but when you guys openly admit to make them just to get more plays, then it makes me sad to see how the PSP side has slowly been dying.
It's pointless to argue with you or make each other see one's way; my levels have gotten thousands of plays by being notoriously known of being mini-games and highscore accumulators. Your other levels don't get as much plays, so you resort to bubble hunts now. In the end, this issue is more of people who never got the attention they deserved resorting to making easy levels to finally garner plays... and I'm ashamed I wasn't there to help give you the 'fame' the veteran PSPers had earned.

Well, I don't know if this was meant to be the case, but a lot of this seems to be directed towards me.I never said it was a crime. I'm just disappointed in how it has evolved. Are you insinuating that because I gave the example of making a platformer that I did so only to gain praise and plays? If so, you are dead wrong. I realize that I jumbled up two thoughts; one about my creating process and the other about my personal feelings towards other styles, and this was my fault.
When I stated that my goal with Ceasefire was to make a platformer, this was because I wanted to see what the fuss was about since I had never even attempted one before. I admitted it was easy, but I meant this in the sense that during my creating process I saw how easy it would be to add another long section of obstacles, make a long jump here, insert some quick jumps there, etc. Due to this, I added the characters into the level. Heck, you even brought up the "Achievements" thing at the end. I completely forgot that I had even added that in since I did so at the last minute before publishing. I suppose all that talk about this not having a personal touch was for nothing, although maybe not. What I'm trying to say is that I don't create for the fame like you seem to think. Heck, I even admitted in the thread that this was the first level that I actually enjoyed creating throughout the long hours of thermometer-filled torture.
Anyways, I hope you understand now what I was getting at in that earlier post. I feel like I'm wasting my time typing all this out since most of my disappointment should be directed elsewhere.

I never directed this towards you. If anything, I disregarded you as a whole since you actually had the same view as me. unc's post hints that he knew he would get easy plays by making a bubble hunt:Well, I don't know if this was meant to be the case, but a lot of this seems to be directed towards me.

and schark also added some evidence as to why this 'trend' is still ongoing:Well. I am starting my own style. You know my percy sackson levels (rpg)? No one cared about it. And I make a good plaformer, everyone enjoys it. And for some reason you guys prefer rpg, but leave no feedback. So I am creating a half platformer half rpg series. Just you wait…
I'm not saying this trend is the sin of LBP PSP. What I am saying is I'm a bit worried; this sudden drop in originality makes me wonder if this style of gameplay will leak into LBP Vita, much like how Bomb Survivals and Shark Survivals leaked into LBP2 for the first couple of months. I just don't want PSPers to develop a habit of not 'pushing the envelop' every once in a while.Making platformers is now a crime or what? The gameplay was fine in my opinion, not a copy from VelcroJonze. My favorite levels are platformers. It's probably the best type of levels of all time, so I don't wonder why there's always more of them. Levels like these get always much plays, much more than any other. Currently it's really hard to get much plays on a level and if you made a platformer, it always gets a chance to be played over and over again, even just because people want to beat the highscore. I don't specially care about the rating I just want my level to be played. I just watched my levels for some long time and I'm kind of disappointed. For example the Pirates of the Seven Seas didn't get any play in about 3 weeks, which makes me sad. No wonder that more creators are leaving the PSP side because they'd put a lot of hard work and didn't get much in return.
Also, I subconsciously want LBP PSP to go out with a bang, and this current state of "drama" isn't how I want its last days before LBPV to be remembered.

You figured me out Cyber. I used to make a lot of rpgs.. They were some of my first levels I made. Then I joined here, and I get no appreciation. Then, I noticed how much VelcroJonze and Nysudyrgh were appreciated for plaformers. So I was like, "Hey! I think I can be appreciated for those. Everyone loves platformers." So I made my first platformer and got a spotlight nod. So I wanted to put my work into platformers. I started getting appreciated here. I felt like noob for my rpgs. But maybe we can get the rpg trend back in. And then we can be the best on lbp vita when it comes out. Everyone should have original ideas. And we need to appreciate other creators' hard works. Even if they aren't trending or your style…

Giant debate is giant. :O
I admit, Paper Zone and Teh Tree O' life were made for quick, easy fame.
(Actually also to try out that style, then became hooked on it, still more for the fame /GreedyForPlays)
All the stuff after that was well, for the fun of creating. (With the exception of Paper Zone's "Renovation")
Creating The Gravity Caves (Yes I know, platformer.
) was the best fun I ever had, which makes no sense since it is a ***** to create with A-grav.
And now I am working on something not platformer (Yes you heard that right.
) but it still has that layer work of mine.
Also MOAR Jet-pack please!Last edited by nysudyrgh; 04-24-2012 at 06:50 PM. Reason: JET-PACKS!!!1

No, it didn't get attention, it got a whole debate.

I don't know why, but my level threads get a whole lot of replies each time.
