    Default Misleading Levels?

You know how some of us predicted that people would abuse the choice to disable feedback? Well one did. They made a level with a bluff for a title, made the level empty, and disabled all outside feedback.
I was appalled. When I left him a message, he replied with something like "That level was only a test to see how greedy the community was for [this item]! I know I'll get hate, but I'll be the one laughing in the end with all the plays!"
This is exactly the sort of attitude that emerges from power-hungry weirdos in LBP.
Do you think this sort of stuff will become more common? I'm not saying the update was bad, in fact I like it, but just the way people are starting to abuse the privileges Mm bestowed upon us.
EDIT: Yes, I know it was a stupid mistake on my part to play it, but I didn't know the feedback was disabled until after. So yeah. Stupid.

Yeah sadly stuff like this can happen. But as I said in another thread, its a bit like youtube. If you see a video with the like/dislike bar disabled, and comments disabled, then you know its a little shady. Either way, I doubt we will see more levels like that very often, but only time will tell.

I do believe that disabling all feedback is like openly saying: "This level is a hoax, so I'm going to prevent everybody from letting you know about that before it's too late".

I can hardly find exceptions. There's actually no point in disabling feedback unless the level is fake or the creator has 500 trolls orbiting him (which I find a bit unlikely).
Disabling feedback from an specific user would be better. If there's this troll that follows all your levels to hate on them, you could disable his feedback to anything related to you. Can you do that anyway?

any genuine creator will want feedback regardless of whether it's negative or positive. those who want to get better will.

MM made a bad decision. It wasn't needed.

But the only really annoying thing about it is that they spent so much time on this update instead of fixing any of the other multiple well known issues.

All they needed was a block list. All problems solved. Game developers over think things sometimes when it comes to fixes.

    Oh well.

I guess if the comments get disabled, sooner or later most of the community will adapt to it, and some of the community will understand the story of the boy who cried Wolf.

Saw one of those yesterday. That's why I very rarely go through the uncool page anymore. if you see anything with some thousand plays and very few yays, but it has a fancy patch and a catchy title, check the pics. if there's no pics, or any where you can see the level floor (which should not be visible in any decent level), then it's most likely a troll.

Mm did indeed make a complete disaster update. Should have replaced b/y with an averaging scale of some kind, and actually fixed the existing glitches. oh, and, they probably should have tested it further than just checking to see if the game still boots up before forcing it on us.

Also besides checking pics, check the persons other levels, planet, pics on profile, and recent activity if your not sure. Sometimes it pays doing your homework.

Wow, what a troll. When I first heard of a level like this, I thought it could be used as some sort of experiment to see how some if not most of the community impulsively plays levels. I guess not.

True, you can tell a lot about a player/creator by how they play LBP.

I'm not entirely sure how this is abusing the system.... if a level doesn't get a good quantity of hearts and happy faces, it won't be up far enough on cool levels to get attention. So.... what difference does it make if someone publishes a level without comments? And if it does well, that just reflects the immaturity of the people who play the game.

This is only a problem to people who put a lot of stock in getting plays. If this bogus level would cause everybody to break their LBP2 disc and never to play your levels, then yeah, you'd have something here. For now, it is just a bit of a douchy thing but it has no (lasting) impact on you, the plays your levels get, the people who play them or the feedback you get from those people - which, let's all agree, is the real prize.

So, someone invented yet another ******* move to harvest plays and get a few trophies for no effort whatsoever. He probably doesn't even care about that and instead does it to be amused by hordes of tricked players foaming at the mouth.

It's not even worth dedicating a thread to this guy.

Well, it was way up there, so I don't know. I'd call it abusing the system, I mean if you use something Mm gave us to PREVENT trolling TO troll, I don't know what else to call it. It's just being a jerk by tricking a whole bunch of users into giving you more plays. Remember that our community is also made up of younger players, so immature may not be the best word to describe it, because they literally AREN'T matured, and may not know any better. Also being one of the reasons boos were removed, because some younger users didn't quite know when or when not to use the boo yet. I believe Mm gave us the option to disable these things to prevent meaners from coming or when you may not be able to take or want feedback. But last time I checked, they didn't say you could use it to trick the community into feeding you plays and to be a dirty troll.
Why does something bad always have to come out of it? Like when you eat a whole load of delicious ice cream, and then you figure out you're lactose-intolerant and end up spending the rest of the night at the toilet.

I don't know. What was the name of the level? Did it end up getting a ton of plays? I would suspect an empty level wouldn't generate a lot of happy faces and hearts, and therefore would quickly disappear off cool levels.... but if not, I'd love to see what the result was by seeing the level stats.

You couldnt even get ON the toilet? Just at it? Better grab a mop.

Anyway I agree, Im confused as to how a level like this could get so high up on the cool pages.
