What is the Dream Project?
The dream project is an idea of mine for a big community-made level of sorts. I recently started work on a level in which you play through dreams. The main character is a Sackbot, so as I was making it, I thought "I can make these 'dreams' whenever and decide on the order they're played through later". This thought evolved, and I thought I could have members of the community donate 2-5 minute 'dreams' that will be added to the level.
So what can I do?
You can make me a dream. The good part about this is that it can be almost anything. It could be a dream you or someone else has actually had, or just something you think would make a pretty cool segment for a level. As dreams vary so much, the level won't have to follow any specific pattern and you can use any materials and stickers you want (within the DLC guidelines).
Once you're done, just save it and send it to me as an object. I'll evaluate it, maybe make a few tweaks and if I like it, it'll go in the level.
Surely I can't make anything I want?
Ok, not quite. There a few guidelines I'd like people to stick to:
- It shouldn't take up a huge amount of space.
- It shouldn't be too thermo heavy.
- It can't use any DLC I don't own.
Also, use a regular player entrance and regular player checkpoints where you want an entrance/checkpoints, and I will edit them in. If you want to give the Sackbot 'powers' (e.g. double jump etc), that's fine to, make everything in a microchip that I can easily stick on the Sackbot.
Your 'dreams' don't have to be long, so why not give it a go?

So, techniquely you are having multiple people build segements of a level, you will put it together, and claim it as your own? That's unfair.

Hmm not really, it is a proposition for creators to unite and collaborate on a concept.
There are already several examples of these types of collaboration and someone needs to publish it on their earth (the collaborators are all aware of the criteria).
Having said that the pre-requisite of 2-5 mins is a pretty healthy level chunk. Personally I think it would be interesting to see this take off, but maybe it would work better if the levels were linked through a central hub (maybe a bed), which all use the same sackbot *shrugs*

Of course not, I was going to implement a system where you hold Triangle to see the creator at any time, and probably tell you outright at the beginning of each dream.
Also, the bed hub idea is actually pretty goodHmm not really, it is a proposition for creators to unite and collaborate on a concept.

I'll be making you one when I get the time. Also, does the Sackbot have any powers? (Double jump...) Oh, and what do you define as Thermo-heavy?

Thanks!

As I said, the Sackbot has none but there's nothing to stop you giving him some. Just make sure it's easy for me to add (i.e. save it as a chip I can just stick on him), and I'll sort it out.
As for 'thermo heavy', I'll let you use your own judgement. Consider it could potentially have quite a few dreams, so at an estimate I'd say anything above 1/6th of the thermo? I'm not really sure.

Mine's about 50% one. I'll likely be done to today, bug test it tommarow, and send it to you Tuesday.
