"RULE CHANGE: You will be allowed to use a non-seat, nearest player controllinator in your level if you so choose. For example: While swimming with your sackboy, maybe you have it set so that L1 (or any button you wish) operates some sort of contraption that propels you, or pushes, pulls, drags, dropkicks, headbutts, spins or shoots you through a portion of your level."
so by way of the rules... no...
but I'm not on the contest crew so they have the final say, trust me, if I had insider access to the crew's inner workings you'd have a 100% answer... but they're friendly people... so stayed tuned, I'm sure they'll get back to you soon.
1. Rules say one level only, so you'll need to emit when needed or use the various thermo cutting methods.
2. They mean sackboy/girl has to move through the level quickly.
Look at the rule change I reposted above... think about making sackboy/girl grab onto a fish or something and then control that... although theres a million ways to move quickly... piston powered blocks, bounce pads etc Think back to good ol' lbp game play devices.

I think 4 mins is gonna be a stretch tbh guys. My level takes up roughly half the create space and is quite a bit over half thermo and without any deaths takes about 1 minute to get through!

Fast gameplay underwater? Water levels are mostly known for nothing other than being slow and boring. Momentum is key to a fast enjoyable level, but being in water all that momentum is sucked up straight away, bouncepads don't even work great in water either, they're too inconsistent. Sackboy is just too slow. Sure you can pick up some great speed grabbing heavy materials moving at a fast speed (Lighter ones will just have too much drag) but after sackboy lets go, he will slow down completely in 1 second. You'd basically have to cut out the ability for sackboy to swim completely just to have a fast level which is just plain silly, still totally possible but silly.

I completely agree with you. I just tested a bouncepad underwater... It stinks. It's set to 4, and even though I got launched a tiny bit farther because of less gravity affect, it still slowed down right away. I tried a spinning wheel set to about 300 Speed, I let go and went a fraction of the distance I would have if I was above water. I just don't think we will be able to make a fast level underwater that works AND is fun AND is fast. Not only these reasons but sackboy floats. When you try and make a fast paced level, you need sackboy to fly around. If sackboy is trying to fly around under water, he slows down in less than a second, then floats up! This is going to be really tough. I don't think you are going to get the outcome you wanted, LBPC Crew. People are going to start giving up because it will be really tough to pull off. I, myself, am sitting out this one. I will help my friends who are trying though. Good luck to everyone entering!Fast gameplay underwater? Cheer up guys... the prize is a crown... surely a harder contest will make that prize seem more earned? The whole point of these contests is to be original... so how about something like a rocket powered - follower guided - water jetpack? Aqua rocket cheetah? Think of it as a puzzle... all you need is the right solution to get sackboy/girl from A to B.

Having great fun making it. But it is kinda hard to think for original fast-gameplay ideas tbh, and more harder if it is underwater lol, but hey, I love challenges!

Cunning plan #1
by Dave
Step 1
Observe the rule:
Step 2Create a level experience of your choice, with intense fast gameplay, completely underwater
Realise that "completely underwater" suggests that sackboy should be under the water rather than in it.
Step 3
Lift up the ocean

Step 4
Walk along the ocean floor.
Step 5
Continue to build a level built around acceleration... celebrate that there's no water to slow you down while following the "completely underwater" rule.
(Warning: Cunning plan #1 may bend several rules that will lead to disqualification... but then again... it is an original solution so it may not but... most likely will. UPDATE: this will now get you disqualified)
The purpose of this post is to really just prove how open these contests are... just be creative and you'll end up in a good position.Last edited by Dav1d0; 05-12-2012 at 04:34 PM.

Lol he's turned the cam so its upside down, nice one m8
Seriously though, can the crew drop the 4 minute mark and just leave the 7 min one. If there was no water 4 minutes would be kinda achievable, bear in mind rikiriki's kalieda level takes bout 3.45 to navigate. Water drag is the main issue. It affects trajectory in a very random manner especially when leaving an object for the next one. Basically everything has to move a lot faster and jumpads have to be set quite high to counteract the drag. You wanted fast and to be a test of reflexes too, my level is but it will never reach 4 minutes tbh!

and done! we'll lower the minimum time but not sure to what length yet. TBH, I don't sit there with a stop watch and go "disqualified because it was only 3.18 seconds." If the gameplay is there, you don't really notice.Seriously though, can the crew drop the 4 minute mark and just leave the 7 min one.
