Hello and welcome to the latest Episode of the Spotlight, full to bursting with the cream of the Level Showcase over the past two weeks. It’s cool to see some less familiar names featured alongside the established creators this time round. The talent out there never ceases to amaze us! So dive in and sample what’s on offer.

Hubbie will be publishing a hub featuring the levels in this Episode sometime tomorrow...assuming he can find the time in his busy snacking schedule.


PS3 Spotlight

 Saving Daylight

Someone forgot to change the clocks. Now it is up to you to save daylight in this huge clock. 1 Player recommended! There is Cheese to find.

Can anyone in Craftworld do anything for themselves? Now they've forgotten to set the clocks so of course it's sackboy to the rescue. Which is fine by me, because this level rocks! Once again, TOBS treats us to a plethora of eye candy in his ever pleasant design style. As you travel through this level, you will encounter a multitude of outstanding contraptions and fun platforming elements. I don't think I'll ever tire of this attracto-gel, especially when it's used as fluidly as it is here. Excellent level, fun characters and good times await you as you make an attempt at Saving Daylight.

Ah, when the days grow longer and the night shortens, children are out longer in a frenzy of play during their summer holidays. Summer has got to be my favorite time of the year. unfortunately, the clocks have yet to be set, and sackboy needs to travel into the clock and set it before the long days of summer are spoiled! Fantastic use of the attract-o-gel so many people take for granted, a grand, trademark visual style that will make your eyes drool, and top notch gameplay make this 2 level series one you won't forget.

You get to have an exclusive behind the scenes tour in one of the biggest anti-gravity companies around ! Fun, right? ....right....

This is one of those levels that makes me jealous. A clean sleek design in a well layed out environment. This is what you'll find when you load into this fun-tastic edeavor from Toxic_Killa. There is a myriad of contraptions to keep you busy and the variety in gameplay keeps it fresh throughout. The level is balanced well with challenging gameplay and straight forward platforming. It's almost impossible NOT to smile when you take a tour of Top-Co Industries.

This is a behind the scenes look at a company?? I want to work there! That's some interesting and fun ways of travelling around the work place I must say. Although it's definitely not without dangers.. would need some good insurance if I worked there.

 Shadowbattle Score Challenge (Solo only) Mini-Arcade giveaway!

For centuries Shadowbird and Shadowbat fought eachother...They made legions of spinning spikey traps... Now as punishment for their lives of senseless fighting, they spend the rest of their existances destroying what they created... While avoiding the other's creations... This is a solo musical score challenge. Chain combos to build your multiplier and get a huge score! Upon completion of this level you will be given a mini 2 player arcade version of the level!

Dortr offers us a level that is not only a pleasure to look at, but also a pleasure to play. The idea is deceptively simple. Choose your character, either red or yellow and fly around the arena collecting spike balls of your color in order to earn points. Successfully hitting a chain of your color will reward you with a healthy combo bonus, but hit the wrong color and your ablility to fly is sizzled momentarily and you lose points. Oh, and the spike balls are constantly changing their color, so you'll have to be quick. The visuals here are stunning and mesmorizing to look at. The gameplay is fun, addictive and certainly challenging...you'll love every second. So, take a deep breath and jump into Shadow Battle.

challenge full of light and shadow and beautiful sound. Dramatic silhouette visuals and bold sweeps of red and yellow create a stunning arena for this dangerous dance. To score you have to destroy the spiky spheres that match your chosen colour but pinpoint timing is required because as the clock hands move round, the colours change in time to the music and false steps are only too easy. A cool and original concept and a strangely addictive dance once you get the hang of it. If you’re looking for a unique challenge with bags of style, then look no further.

 V3 Grunts Tactical RPG Arena

Virtues versus Vices Grunts is a top down team based RPG fighting game. It is advised to have 2 or 4 players for balanced teams. (4 recommend for an intense team experience!) There are 3 characters per faction all selectable after each death. Virtues are the "good" team and fight with elements Water, Ice and lightning. Vices are the "bad" team and fight with elements Tar, Fire and Acid... Please rate fairly and have fun.. If you like this please try out my V3 Arena for more characters, elements and maps!

Are you ready for a rumble? Grab a friend, preferably a few friends and head into this very unique battle arena. You've seen the tutorial level so now let's put that hard training to some good use and kick a little tail, shall we? This level..Oh my gosh, the details in the scenery, heck the details in everything is just plain amazing! In this arena you choose the faction that you'll fight for, each with it's own set of abilities, so choose wisely. Once you step foot in the arena, it's all out war! You have a plethora of attacks at your disposal and trust me, you'll need them all. The battles can be quite frantic but always fun, so what are you waiting for? Let's Battle!

An awesome array of weapons and abilities to choose from, a cool arena and clever tactical gameplay – all adds up to some great multiplayer battle action! Actually, if you’re me the tactics go out of the window pretty soon, as I spam every button available in an attempt to throw tar, acid and fire at my opponents all at once. Mayhem ensues but it’s a LOT of fun! A more level headed approach pays off better though and I usually end up losing to an opposition that deploys its weapons more carefully. The logic behind this level is impressive and it looks amazing – the animations for the different weapons and hazards are great. Chaotic, frantic and fun - let battle commence!

The confusing platformer continues as now Sandra takes you to were things get even weirder. Best 1 player but hey what do i know let all 4 players join xD Music by Halonova

"Oh sweet, some score bubbles! Now I will have the high score! Ouch! What the frenchtoast man!? Fine! I'll just jump on this bouncepad right here. Oh Come On!" This was me during my first play through. I quickly learned my lesson though and my second time around was more like this, "Oh no, unh unh, I see your trick, ima run this way, oh sweet, some score bubbles. DANG IT!" I absolutely adored Bjounce2. Everything from the open environment and cool design to the very unique gameplay.

Ingenieus yet again proves his entitlement to such a PSN username by creating another bizarre yet beautiful platformer in which things are the OPPOSITE of what the seem. Bounce on spikes, and perish on deceiving bouncepads, collect impact explosives, and burst into flames from score bubbles! this level takes the properties of the LBP we know and love, and turns it completely around for a gameplay experience like any other. Go give it a shot!

What is with Clive and factories? He seems to have millions! Some great and some.. well... that need improvement. Luckily, this factory is probably one of his best! Innovative bouncepad use and charming visuals make this platformer differentiate from the rest of the lot. Give it a go!

I don't think I ever found out what they make in this factory. Whatever it is, I bet it's cool as all get out. This level was just so funky and neat that I adored every minute of it. At first the style seems like a jumbled mess of materials and decorations but then you see that it all goes well together and forms this fantastic platformer that is chock full of cool contraptions and fun and entertaining gameplay. There is just so much on hand here that will make you oooh and aaaahh out loud. Go ahead and punch your timecard in this fabalous underground factory.

Welcome to Motif Underworld, a silhouette motif platformer with some fun gameplay and unique visuals. Inspired by Outland to create this kind of level and hope you all enjoy the level :)...Best played with 1-player, Max 2-player.... Music by Velvet--Audio

I like a good silhouette level. I find the theme very artistic and relaxing, most of the time. So when I noticed that Sabre had published this, I immediately jumped on it. I was floored by the overall design of this environment and was genuinely thrilled with the solid gameplay. Sabre implemented a cool play mechanic of having to switch the colors in order to proceed through this platformer. I loved the contraptions on hand, the peaceful music and the mood this level evokes. I think you will too. This one is a must play in my book.

Danger walks hand in hand with beauty in this gorgeous looking silhouette level from Sabre_. Delicate filigree panels and ethereal music give the level an eerily lovely atmosphere but there’s peril aplenty. Only clever switching between red and blue colours for the level will get you through unscathed. It’s a neat gameplay mechanic which keeps you on your toes and adds to the visual charm of the level. Exquisite but deadly - a memorable combination.

So how are your reflexes? Because you’re going to need them. This level does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a super fast platformer that bounces, whirls and spins you through a series of obstacles so fast that your feet don’t touch the ground – or at least that’s the way it seems. You need to keep your eyes peeled and your thumbs ready, because there are tricks and traps aplenty to catch you out. It’s beautifully designed and heaps of fun to play. Bags of replay value too because if you’re like me, then just when you’ve mastered one section, you come unstuck at another and there’s a timer and death counter just to rub it...I mean to tell you how good you are! A blast in all sense of the word!

Woo! Another speedy platformer here and it's really fun too. You'll be kicking yourself when you fail at an obstacle and lose your speed. Addictive once you start trying to be skillful and getting somewhere on the scoreboards. But if you're like me.. then it probably won't go so well. But still fun no matter how many times you die!

While watching the first episode of Star Wars and slowly having my childhood memories crushed the rapidly growing cynical part of me thought "Wow, this pod racing scene seems to be just for the computer game" Since then I have managed to avoid any Pod Racing, but seeing it realised in LBP and at such speed was pretty impressive. And I am glad I loaded this, and all the more glad I did not encounter Jar-Jar.

One of the reviewers of this level wrote, "weeeeeeee!!!!!Booooom!!!!!" LOL, exactly. Don't let that detract you though. This is an amazing piece of work. Heck the Title and menu screen alone have a big "WOW" factor, but then you get into the meat and potatoes of the level, which is the race. Daaaaang! Are you flippin' kidding me? I was blown away, both figuratively and literally, as I crashed and burned quite quickly. I took a second go at it and this time stayed in granny gear and just kind of went for a Sunday drive around the tract and just marveled at the inguinuity in this level. A feast for the eyes for sure. No need to have the Force on your side here, just keen eyes and fast reflexes and you'll be fine.

An epic puzzler platforming adventure on an alien moon. Atmospheric sci fi visuals with original logic based puzzles and platforming. Puzzles are challenging but there are hints and solutions so you can't get stuck. Phat soundtrack thanks to weirdybeardy. Multiplayer friendly with extra 2P function for some puzzles. The sequel to CRySTaL MeTHoDoLoGY...the adventure continues!

Wander through this alien moon which is both beautiful and brain tingling. Between the landscape and the colour scheme you really do feel like you're on some distant planet exploring.. and solving puzzles! All the while a story seems to be unfolding as you go which draws you into the world further. A real joy to play, and there's plenty to do if you want to collect all those shiny shards which are dotted around the place.

I was a big fan of the first level in this series, so when The_Egg published this next installment, I just had to jump on it. I was extremely pleased to see that this level exceeded my expectations. Wow! First, I love the design of this world he has created. It has that "Alien" feel to it and as you search through this landscape for hidden and not so hidden shards, you can't help but to let your eyes wander around soaking up the sights. The gameplay and story are exquisite. The puzzles, while challenging in areas, are quite doable if you take your time and think through them. Amazing level, amazing everything, just go play it. You got to.

Ninjas! What could be more bad donkey? Hmmm how about a cyber ninja! Sure! Sounds pretty deadly, a well built and speedy sackbot affords you some ninja like powers and skills that need to be utilised with ninja like precision as you navigate the underground base searching for power ups to unleash more ninja fury on the unsuspecting occupants. Find some pyjamas and get your ninja on!

Time to get serious, CISARU: The Cyber Ninja ain't got no infinite lives which we're all so used to these days. Flase moves may lead to your death.. permanently.. which is never good. And you won't want to die here either, slashing through all the machines of this place is always satisfying. Your ninja moves may start out small but over time more will be introduced adding more layers to tactics against the varying enemies. Who doesn't like being a ninja?

 Sunset Paradise

Enjoy the beautiful view. Nice simple platformer level enjoy.

Aruba, Jamaica ooohh I wanna take ya, to a Sunset Paradise, it all seem rather relaxing except for the devious platforming! To add to the tricky platform jumping; the setting sun over the outlying islands is rather distracting. Especially as I started to try and make out if I could see a pirate ship docking in some far of cove... anyway back to the platforming at hand, ohh some nice umbrellas on the dockside, I'll just have a look- BLAST spikes!

Another silhouette level has happened upon my way. You know, I used to dislike these but so many good ones have been coming down the pipe that my mind has been changed. This is certainly one of those levels. The scenery here is absolutely gorgeous and would easily find a home as my desktop wallpaper. The gameplay is very solid and contains some unique contraptions and ideas, but for the most part, it's the scenery you'll be in awe over. Stunning. Go check it out.

In this strange world you'll be introduced to several kinds of creatures. Most of which can help you get around the place, some intent on destroying you. But for the most part they're a friendly bunch, colourful both literally and in character. Creating a fun way to get from beginning to end.

You'll meet several along the way, such as the little creature you grab onto and he expels a blast of gas that will propel you upwards. Yes, there's humor in here as well. Hey SLS10 Just wanted to say that your level came within an absolute hair's breadth of a full spotlight. Its fate was being debated right down to the wire.

Some great levels as ever (and great nods too :P). Thanks to all the creators who posted levels for making it such a pleasure (and in the case of SLS10 torture...in the best possible way ) to play through the Showcase.

Oh, good eye Vale. Yes, he is a temporary new member of the crew. He thinks he's a Jedi or something. Always trying to "Force Pull" the plate of cookies off the table in our lounge. We just kind of ignore him though. He does look funny, standing there 3 feet from the table, with his arm outstretched and a look of concentration on his face as he tries to will the plate of cookies to him. Tsk, tsk.

Good selection this week. I've played a few already, have been particularly impressed by the first 2 (Top-co Industries and Saving Daylight). Have just added about 8 more to my queue.
Look, I'm trying to get rid of my queue and people keep making great levels.......... AAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGH.
I have promised myself, that before I release my next level, I WILL play all the levels on my queue!
