    Default Diablo III

Is no one playing this, I personally got it and find it to be really fun! So nice to have new Diablo again!!

For those that don't know Diablo is a RPG from Blizzard Studios, that involves looting and dungeon crawling. Gearbox studios the makes of Borderlands talked about how their gun system took roots from the way the loot system in Diablo is. This new one can play with up to 5 players online or via LAN. Upon release it had some hiccups but things now seem to be working fine!
    So is anyone playing this?

I want to try it out before I buy, as it's a pretty expensive game! Don't suppose anyone has a spare guest pass?

Same. I am pretty interested in the game but I have been completely put off by the price tag.

If I had a PC poweful enough to play this, I'd be boycotting it. Blizzard can go to hell for all I care.

When are publishers going to get that their anti-piracy measures only bother those who actually buy the game? This DRM isn't fighting piracy, it's encouraging it. Pirates are drawn to challenges like this and will find a way to crack the game's defenses in a matter of weeks.

The pirates will be happy playing a modded, cracked version offline without all the bullsh*t while the legit users will be raging about server failures!

Funnily enough I haven't had a single problem with the servers. People are welcome to play offline, online with friends is far better

I've had no problems with the servers at all. Also all the content is stored on Blizzards servers so it's impossible to crack.

    Just give them time.

Plenty of people have been experiencing trouble. #error37 got to the top of Twitter trending and became a Google autocomplete in just a few hours since the launch of the game.

The bottom line is, you're dependant on Blizzard's servers and your internet connection to play a mainly single-player game. If anything, anything goes wrong, you can't play it. Are you really OK with this? Just because Diablo 3 is an awesome game, is it justified that its DRM renders gamers powerless?

As TotalBiscuit said: if another publisher like EA or Activision tried this, there'd be an angry mob with torches and pitchforks protesting outside their headquarters right now. But hey, it's Blizzard. They have a cult following so it's ok for them to pull this kind of BS.

Agree with SnipySev. I seriously don't see how you guys didn't have any trouble with the servers. I was on Dota 2 on the day of launch and there was a subtraction of about 10-15,000 people (playing Diablo III).

Two hours later? Almost all those 10-15,000 people were back on Dota 2 and there was literally "Diablo 3 is down" spam in every single chat room.

I think everyone is defending Diablo 3's DRM because it's Blizzard. Everyone loves to get on that Blizzard icicle.
Blizzard has been going downhill ever since the new WoW Expansions.

Look at Starcraft 2. It literally is a step backwards in everything other than gameplay. The Interface is the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. Dota 2 (I compare it with Dota 2 because I play that game a LOT) has done a much better job with the interface. It's something I wish Starcraft 2 would've had. Also one of the main reasons I don't play it anymore.

But that's SC2. I like Diablo 3, it's a fun game. Just sad to see the experience ruined because of "anti-piracy measures". I laugh every time a company thinks they can stop the pirates from playing their game. It will never happen.

I remember when Starcraft 2 was in beta. Blizzard said there was NO WAY for the game to be pirated. They challenged any hackers/pirates to get into the beta. And guess what? I was in an IRC chat for about a week with one of the biggest hacking groups known and they were able to get into the beta easy. So was I.

Diablo 3 is a good game. I'll wait for Torchlight 2 though.

    Hold on a minute, what?

SC2 is a step back in everything other than gameplay. (and graphics, go play BW again if you forgot ) But realistically, gameplay - especially for SC2 - is all that matters. That and the matchmaking, which is fantastic. The UI sucks, but then again that is being fixed with patch 1.5 and the arcade release that comes with it. Or HOTS. Either way, that's fine.

And yeah, hackers can obviously get in eventually. And yeah, the DRM sucks (not that I have tried, or indeed wanted to, play offline) but I can do it on SC2 anyway.

Anyway, I really don't see that much wrong with the SC2 interface. It's easy to get into games, which is all I really care about, and it is easy to view the ladder and get to my replays so that I can see what mistakes I made. The chat channels suck, but they are being sorted. The custom games suck, but they are being sorted. Other than that though, there is nothing wrong with the UI? 'Popular' games like HoN and LoL have far worse interfaces (and they suck) so yeah...

I agree with the DRM tactic being a pain in the ***. People defending this amaze me since they're letting developers keep doing this. Soon, these type of annoyances like online passes and online required single player will be common in future games.

Oh, they've crack the game already a bit after release. I would post the links to the public trackers and private ones, but I believe they were taken down due to people actually posting links to them, so I may just be wasting my time.

So you were in the Dota 2 chats on midnight release too? I laughed when most people on chats were saying things like "Diablo 3 is going to blow Dota 2 away." Dota 2 is finished!" One game later, and I find chat with everybody whining about server errors. The funniest comment was some kid who complained "Diablo 3 looked nothing like the TV commercials. I thought it was going to be like Dark Souls or Skyrim!"

I remember when Starcraft 2 was in beta. Blizzard said there was NO WAY for the game to be pirated. They challenged any hackers/pirates to get into the beta. And guess what? I find it funny how you can take such pride in that. It's like when LulzSec hacked PSN and everybody was parading around as though the new age of gaming arised, and /b/ claimed the did it themselves just because they were in the mIRC chats. What's more, I find hilarious how you can defend Activision day and night when it comes to Call of Duty, but as soon as somebody like Blizzard pulls the same stunt or delivers a game with a bad story or gameplay, you jump on it as though they were a problem to the gaming industry. I don't necessarily like Blizzard since they've ruined WoW for me, but I can sense a bit of a fanboy in you.

So you're comparing Starcraft 2 with LoL and HoN? That isn't very helpful.

I will admit, though, LoL's UI is terrible. It's a bit clunky, and while I like the colorful look in LoL, it gets a bit too much at times when team fights enable. It's like someone ate a bunch of Skittles and threw up on my screen. The game is broken, so I can understand why it sucks; HoN only sucks because they tried competing with LoL and added way too many champs to my liking without caring about balance.

Dota 2's interface is a bit of half and half for me. I love SC2's micro management since it posed as a challenge for people. Dota 2's micro management, while simple, is stupid. I'd like to have a bit more options when controlling my creeps and neutrals when I play as Chen, like being able to press a key and gain control of a certain creep or neutral, much like how you're able to do that with the Courier; or being able to let the creep use a stun or deny a tower for, something that'll be very helpful in Dota 2. Am I wishing for too much, or are we able to do that but I haven' set up my key bindings correctly?

Anyways... yeah. Blizzard ruined WoW. Dota 2 > HoN > Staring at paint > LoL. Micros!

Do you ever even read my comments? Or do you just like to argue with people? Because you are literally always 100% wrong.

How does Blizzard pull the same stuns as Activision? Blizzard released a DRM locked game. Call of Duty did not. I also, never once said Blizzard creates games with bad stories or bad gameplay. In fact, if you read my post real slowly you'll realize that I actually think Blizzard's games have good gameplay/stories.

EDIT: And I will always take pride in the fact that there are some people out there that are trying to show the gaming industry that we are the people that make them money, we are the people buying their games. Releasing Diablo 3 with a DRM is completely disrespectful to their fan base.

I do read your comments. I just have a tendency to not take anyone serious when they exert so much effort in proving a point. Basically, I love seeing someone argue over the littlest of things simply for pure entertainment. It's a habit I developed after I realized that people will never stop complaining no matter what the situation is.

I thought you would have caught my "I'm not actually trying to argue with your statement, I just want to see how you react" post when I defended Activision as well. As I said before, they play smart, I cannot deny them that. Blizzard ruined WoW for me and have tried to take Valve to court over Dota 2, which upset me. I don't like either company, but I don't discredit their ability to make money or offer a good game every once in a while.

By the way, by now you should have noticed that I never take you seriously. If you look at my other replies, I tend to agree or discuss my opinions with other people more smoothly and have an open mind. In all honesty, I gave up trying to argue with you. You're stubborn, you let your pride get in the way of reason or criticism, and while I respect your history in games you always want to be right. Even my post Apple being a 'threat' to the gaming industry was more of a joke, and I tried to emphasized that, but you wanted to be right about everything.

I don't take you seriously. I probably never will.

EDIT: And I will always take pride in the fact that there are some people out there that are trying to show the gaming industry that we are the people that make them money, we are the people buying their games. Releasing Diablo 3 with a DRM is completely disrespectful to their fan base.

You are literally the only person that ever says "I thought you would have caught my *insert something that no one could spot over the Internet*".

I (and many others that I've talked to about you specifically) actually have realized that the only reason your arguments go so well with other people is because they either agree with you or give up. The only reason you feel the need to call me stubborn or prideful is because I'm the only person on this website that doesn't let you win the argument when you're wrong. Many of my posts are me agreeing with or letting someone know they're right and I was wrong. Says something about you eh?

I've also realized all your posts are a "joke". Either take something seriously or let people know it's a joke. You can try to emphasize something all you want over the Internet, but people are not mind readers and what may seem obvious to you may not be so obvious to others.

And with that, I'll take my stubborn, prideful self out of this thread as it has gotten quite off-topic.

EDIT: I also don't know why you think I should "realize" that all your posts directed to me are not serious. You act like I have a little notebook next to my computer with everyone's internet personalities written inside. I come on this website once or twice a day, look through the General Gaming forums and reply to people. I don't look at who I'm replying to or who is replying to me. I actually didn't realize I was arguing with you until your second post.
