Yes, I know it's below average, but it's my first piece of digital art, alright?!
I went for a bit of a cartooney look here. It's for a social studies project at school. In my eyes, it is the most pointless project I've ever received. To be honest, I coulda tried harder.
Let's look at how I made it, shall we?
Spoiler - Yes, let's!!
Spoiler - No, thanks.
It was made using Paint.net, introduced to me by the great man himself, Ayneh.

Shouldn't this be in the artwork and creativity section?
Strange assignment, although I'm not the one to speak since we had to make a stop-motion movie for school.

I'd love to scream how historically inaccurate it is... but I simply can't as the artwork is too cool

Good job.

As a former critiquer of amatuer web comics, I can say with authority that you shouldn't sell yourself short. Have I seen better? Sure, but I've also seen much much worse.
If you are ever feeling down about your own abilities, seek out my friend Simon's comic; "Billy Learns To Rock." The only redeeming qualities of Simon's comic are the awesome title and how unintentionally funny it is. When reading "Billy" one should keep in mind that before taking on writing and drawing it, the author held a BA in graphic design.
We've tried gently breaking this to him but he is undeterred by this news...

Yay!...
Well I guess you could either blame Wikipedia or my raging ignorance.
Glad you liked it BTW.
Apparently one page wasn't enough for this assignment. So here's page two.

As you can see, this time I went for a much more cartooney look. Again, Imma show you how I made it.
Spoiler - Sup Brah.

Hope you like it!

Your work is actually superb, I truly love your art and I simply wish you had more.
I would change the thread title to ''My (Sorta BADASS) Comic!!!!!''

I like the simplicity of the redone art coupled with the text, which I've read before. I used to think of it when I'd drive through El Paso Texas. Juárez Mexico is right over the border and looks like shach after shack built onto the one next to or under it. It's really quite sad that the living conditionsdescribed in your comic still exist today all over the world.

Well, actually I do have a lot of art that's lying around. Mostly just pencil drawings. I suppose I might change the name of this thread and put all my stuff in here. Would you like that?
Thanks for the compliment.
Edit: Oh right. DreadRandal, I saw your friend's "Billy Learns to Rock". It reminded me of a movie, but I can't remember which it is...Last edited by Kaboosh99; 06-29-2012 at 11:46 PM.

You could add all your artwork in the first post.
Separate them in categories (comics, drawings) by using spoiler tag. You can even have show/hide spoiler in a big spoiler if needed.
This way it will be easier for people to see all your art instead of scrolling all the page to find your post.
Example:
Spoiler - My Comics
Spoiler - Sack Adventure
And then you have the comic you made
Spoiler - Step by step how I made it
etc...
Spoiler - Road to glory
Once again you have your comic in here.
Spoiler - My drawings
Spoiler - Cars
Cars picture.
Between the comics name are completely random.Last edited by Sport_dude; 06-30-2012 at 05:38 AM.

To stop the white halos around your lines set the layer containing the scan to multiply. Create new layers underneath the scan and colour on them. I might be wrong but it looks like you're scaling the image massively after colouring it to try and obscure that issue at the moment.
For pencil drawings play with the sliders in the levels dialog to bring different shades of light and dark out.
I use GIMP now, but Paint.NET is still good for colouring... I also liked SAI.

I found myself using gimp for about a year after my computer with Paintshop Pro died on me. After reaquiring PSP, I found myself going back to gimp because it was easier and I had gotten used to it.

No, I'm not scaling them. Also, the thing with the levels sliders... I already do that. It's just that sometimes I don't really press that hard on the paper with my pencil. With the while halo effect you're talking about... I think I sorta like it. It looks sorta cool.To stop the white halos around your lines set the layer containing the scan to multiply. I've used GIMP before, and it irritates me. I think I'll stay with Paint.NET for the moment.
