I'm interested to know what kind of music you have heard from different cultures around the world, and invite you to post your vids/mp3s here in this thread so we can share our passions and broaden our musical horizons.
Just to clarify what I mean by world music, I'll leave this wiki quote here for you...
In the classic definition, world music is the traditional music or folk music of a culture that is created and played by indigenous musicians and is closely related to the music of the regions of their origin. The term was originally intended for ethnic-specific music, though globalization is expanding its scope; it now often includes hybrid sub-genres such as World fusion,Global fusion, Ethnic fusion and Worldbeat. These terms may also be considered sub-genres of pop music, illustrating that the term world music refers to music that is also classified under other genres.
So please don't use this topic to post the kind of rock/pop you hear every day on MTV and commercial western radio.
To start things off, I have a particular passion for Arabic and Balkan sounds that fuse traditional folk styles such as sufi, rai and ladino with contemporary dance, so I'll share a small collection of some of my favourite songs with you here...

^ I actually have every album Orphaned Land have recorded so far.
I've never heard of Myrath before, but I like the song you posted there. Good stuff.
Now, how about a cool version of The Rolling Stones' Paint It Black done Balkan folk-punk style...

I think contamination is the best way to evolve music and ethnic influences are great.
It's awesome that people remembers their roots and keeps them alive through their art.
Orphaned Land are such a special group even because the members cohexist though being of different religions.
This is someway fun, but I love what they do, covering rock/metal classic Finnish humpa folk style

@ Kern - J-pop is insane! Have you heard this one before?
Don't you feel like stabbing yourself in the eye with a fork after watching that?
