Anybody else looking forward to the occlusion culling on the update rather than the weather? I'm leaving out stats and achievements, those are the best parts of 1.5.

Quick edit: Occlusion culling is when the game renders only what you need to see, so it should reduce lag.

Yep achievements and weather sounds good.

Not too keen on the "ladder fix" as it will probably break my custom map ._.

**** it. I'll have to wait for everyone to update all their mods, and then I have install them again -.- Anyways, Occlusion Culling better reduce my lag. I've tried everything, and Notch may be my last hope.

Yeah, Occlusion Culling seems to have downgraded my performance, too.

I didn't really notice a difference. Also still have yet to see weather.

The new saplings don't have different names so they get a bit confusing. Achievements are meh at the moment nothing too exciting just basic stuff. Apparently the booster rails are pretty weak so ehh....

The OpenGL is the Occlusion Culling. Occlusion Culling just renders what you see, not everything around you. You need a good CPU power to have it run well, but it reduces the use of the RAM, so if you have a good enough computer, it should reduce lag greatly.

    I noticed a great difference.
Without OpenGL, I run at 31-40 FPS on Normal fog, unlike before with 18-21.

EDIT: With OpenGL it still runs the same, but it's weird how my FPS improved.

The Stats & Achievements will be a lot nicer when they are not stored Locally. They should definiatly be stored on Minecraft.net. I play on two computers and am a fan of stats so it would be nicer to have them online.

I happened to get reain the 1st night on the new map I made, not really so bad lag-wise actually, at least not in "Fast" graphics.
Tho even when i changed to the "Fancy" graphics, it wasn't really that bad, it added the rain sound, a lot more rain and some other slight differences, but it didn't really lower my fps that much.

It was still well and playable either way.

I noticed that too. Fancy runs much smoother, but I can't stand the fancy clouds. They look horrible!

Well, a I came into a few bugs. I started a new world and settled into a snow biome and guess what? I can't place any block or object on any other block that has snow on it! I can't even place it on the sides.
Has anyone encountered rain or snow yet?
They should have made it a little bit more common than it is now.

    EDIT:

There's now a demo for Minecraft, provided by PCGamer.
    http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/04/19/do...inecraft-demo/

Yes, they haz permission from Notch, obviously.
So I tried it out. You spawn in the same world, and same coordinates.
You start out with a couple of stuff.
Also, the cows are specially branded for the PCGamer people.
