Make a back-up before you download mods. Also watch youtube tutorials on how to install, they work most of the times.

No, of your worlds. I don't really know how it works on a PC, well if you're not using a Mac.

To back up your saves on windows systems:

1. click on the start button and go to the search option
2. search for %appdata%
3. it should take you to a folder called appdata\roaming or something like that
4. the first folder in it should be .minecraft
5. copy the save folder to your desktop. that should be all your worlds.

It might be a good idea to make a link on your desktop to the data folder.

Now that that's done, just follow the instructions that come with the mod and you should be golden.

If you mess up and minecraft won't start, use the launcher's 'force update' option under the options menu and it'll re-dl the minecraft jar you modified.

I got "OptiFine HD" running now...

But I'm feeling uneasy about using "YogBox" and "Aether Collaboration Mod" or not yet.
I want to add them but... they are not done yet? they still adding patches...
and some people are reporting bugs... can anyone tell me who have these mods if they work fine?

Mods will almost always have bugs. It doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them. As long as you have a back up of your world(s), you should be fine and need not worry about them.

the aether mod is probably the best mod ever with the amazing dungeon bosses. (except for silver dungeon as it's always blocks me out before i can reach the boss inside it >:[)
HOWever... ever since i've downloaded it my level generator is incredible laggy and slow both in and outside the aether, along with that i've gotten alot of random lag everywhere for no reason really.
now.. i don't have a super computer but my laptop could handle minecraft without ANY lag in multiplayer and single player WITH: render distance set to far, smooth light, grafic set to fancy, and a bunch of pistons working around the level at the same time.
but now i can't work with even one piston with settings: fast grafic, non-smooth light, level render set to tiny, in SINGLEplayer. without suprisingly high lag.


i might have mixed my minecraft jar and the mod wrong or something though..

where things will stop for a sec then jump fast forever...

I really don't know why... I think it's because I have slow net...
wish I could play this game offline if i wanted (>.>)

Ok, think of this as a New World... but with a starter kit.

The Land

For a randomly generated world, this ones pretty... weird?
As a beginning, I built a cabin with a few items of use in a chest, as well as a Furnace & Workbench.
Have a go at exploring this world. You'll find some things that are... Off? To the right is a perfectly peaked cliffside. Ahead (past the snow) is a Stone valley, looking like it was formed by a player.

Aside from the Cabin, I build/changed nothing in this world. I spawned near the hill-top where the cabin resides.
