Good news fumetsusozo, looks like 1.7 worlds are getting structures. Scroll to #16.

Hopefully they won't generate inside my existing structures and destroy them.


EDIT: It would also seem that 1.8 is not coming out today.

Hmm interesting. can't wait to see how the worlds changes.
And I'm fine with it not coming out today. I'm busy all month on my LBP level anyways.

Pretty sure structures will only generate in undiscovered parts of the world. Currently, structures will not appear at all in worlds before 1.8.

Silly me, of course! It says they would be present in 1.7 worlds, but it says nothing about existing chunks. Why didn't I realize this in the first place?

Well, due to a storm killing my internet connection i may not be able to get the server patched to 1.8 when it does come out. Hopefully it'll get fixed later today but if not and it comes out i'll have to come back to the Krystal in my hometown and try it from there. that'll be fun.

Endermen can break through bedrock, and I think if you make a mushroom on bedrock with bonemeal it will break it.
