Installed Dynmap because Eoghan and the others wouldn't shut up. For some reason it wouldn't generate the configuration file, but I installed that separately and put our IP address in it. Unfortunately, however, some gits stole our IP and port, so we need to get a new port from BeastNode... Could you do that please Memo? I don't understand how to find out what ports we have access to with this control panel, and I can't seem to log into the forums. Thanks!

I believe Bukkit is out for 1.4.2.
And is the dynmap on the new IP or is it still the old one?

It WOULD be, but...
Yeah. See, our IP address can be used multiple times by different people, as long as the port is different. And because Dynmap / beastnode assigns 8123 as the Dynmap port, this goes to whoever installed it and claimed it first.
Because of that, we're gonna need to get a new port from BeastNode, which it seems only Memo can obtain.
EDIT: Never mind, it somehow let me send a ticket, despite it not wanting me to login to beastnode.com
Also, what would peoples opinions be on this plugin, that saves your inventory and restores it when you die?
Yeah, it takes some of the fun out, but if you've spent days and days collecting objects and enchanting items, and you lose it in lava, it makes you want to drop kick the cat and stop playing for a while.
It could either be used WITH or INSTEAD of the /back command.
In my opinion, we should get the following plugins;
Essentials - Tons of commands we used all the time.
Residences - Protect your properties (and tp to them?)
Shopkeeper - Trade items with villagers that Mods or players make.
WorldGuard - Protect server property
WorldEdit - Copy, paste, load and save chunks. Useful for us mods, and for me building the railway.
Scavenger - Restores your inventory upon death, so no more losing your stuff to murderers or lava.
LogBlock - Find out who broke and placed what so we can discipline them, and roll back the damage.
LWC - Protect signs, item frames, chests, doors, furnaces and dispensers.
McMMO? - For more gameplay elements, but would have to be nuked. I'm sick of people grinding their skills like hell and being able to gain stupid bonuses like one hit kills and such! :PLast edited by Weretigr; 10-31-2012 at 12:45 PM.

Saving the entire inventory? That does take some of the fun away.. But It's the most frustrating thing ever when you loose, as you said, enchanted tools. I don't suppose there's anyway of being able to "select" what items that can be saved? So for example anything enchanted will carry on with ya but dirt cobble and carrots will be dropped?
If not that, it only saves your inventory if you're actually killed by lava, and drops it if a mob kills you?I forget stuff! Remind me please!

I did think that if fire or lava killed you, it only does it then. But then there's dying from fall damage NEXT to lava, or your stuff exploding into it too.Saving the entire inventory? That does take some of the fun away.. But It's the most frustrating thing ever when you loose, as you said, enchanted tools. I don't suppose there's anyway of being able to "select" what items that can be saved? So for example anything enchanted will carry on with ya but dirt cobble and carrots will be dropped?
If not that, it only saves your inventory if you're actually killed by lava, and drops it if a mob kills you?
And one line in the Bukkit page reads "Individual item recovery based on permissions if enabled." I'll have to look into it, but it sounds possible.
I'll look into a death by fire limitation. And possibly one where you fall into the void or suffocate due to lag.
---- RESEARCH ----
In the config file;
Another plugin called InvRecover offers the following;"# If SingleItemDrops is true and SingleItemDropsOnly is false then only explicitely denied drops will be dropped. If this is true then you must explicetly allow players to keep each item and everything else is dropped."
"# Drop items when killed by another player."
"# Chance to drop item. Leave 0 for no chance. This is an integer value. If you enter 5 then the chance to drop is 1 out of 5."
Apart from PVP, it doesn't seem you can specify the type of death. I don't quite understand the SingleItemDrops thing, but that sounds like you can choose certain things to keep. I'd say such things would be Diamonds, Emeralds, and any tools, weapons or armour.
Graverobber: (Hasn't been updated since April last year, mind you, so an unlikely choice.)"Few things are worse than falling in lava when mining. This plugin allows players to get their inventories back after dying. Don't want players to get abuse this? Use death cause permissions to configure when players can recover their inventories. Trusted ops (invrecover.recover.others permission) can recover other players' inventories on request.
-auto-recovery (default: false) - automatically recovers players' inventories when they respawn
-broadcast-item-recovery (true) - broadcast inventory recoveries
-drop-on-death (true) - if false, disables dropping items on death. These items are not removed when inventory is restored. Note: drops will not be -removed if inventory was not saved due to death causes
-one-recovery (true) - if false, it will allow players to recover their inventory multiple times per death. Warning: This can be used to duplicate -items
-save-if-empty (false) - if false, it prevents inventory from being saved if it's empty, this way the previous inventory is still recoverable.
-use-death-causes (false) - Uses invrecover.cause.* permissions to decide whether to save items or not when a player dies.
-Custom messages"
But it might not be as likely as Scavenger to update. We shall see.
DeathControl: This one sounds the best, and I will message the maker to see if he/she will be updating it."Existing features of 1.8.1
GraveRobber now accepts commands:
gr.signpost:
enable or disable sign posts on player death.
gr.pvp:
Enable and Disable toggle.
Items drop upon environment/creature death.
Items are persisted after PVP death.
gr.i2k:
aka: "items to keep"
Users can add or remove items which are to be persisted after player death.
Other items will either be dropped or erased (depending on configuration).
Commands are only available to Op'ed Players."
-saves a player's inventory and/or experience upon death
-the behavior depends on the configured death cause
-advanced support for death causes (not only the built in DamageCauses of bukkit)
-supports a whitelist to only keep specific items
-supports a blacklist to specifically drop specific items
-allows to keep not all of the items, but still drop a configured percentage
-keeping the items can cost money, configurable per death cause and optionally as a percentage
-items don't have to be restored automatically; players can get them back via a command with a timeout
-stored items are kept for a certain time when the player disconnects before getting them back
-supports every major economy-plugin through either Register or Vault
-supports bukkit permissions (SuperPerms) as well as the OP system

As someone who is at constant risk of falling... whatever one that deals with items and fall damage but still allows for mob releted death item penalties would be great.

Oh. Yeah, I didn't think of that. Doesn't matter errybody! You just /back yourself into that lava that killed you and burned all your stuff, or the 30 feet of blocks you suffocated in, or that void you fell down. I don't see ANY problem with that! :P

I have not heard of anything that kills the survival experience more than those, Dayne...
My vote is a very strong no on all forms of death. You die, you deserve consequences. Yes, it's frustrating. But it's how Minecraft works. Besides, /back'ing is really all you need. Saves your stuff from 90% of deaths.
And David, you're not the first person to build up high over land. At the start of 1.2 I began an airship. Only times I fell off was when it was on purpose (water drop/suicide for food) or I was hit off by friends. It isn't too hard to keep yourself up.
