Thanks. What happens if you've installed a mod and you want to play in a server that doesn't support it? Do you need to uninstall the mod, or does Minecraft automatically to the default settings for the time you're playing on said server?

Visual mods don't matter online.

This includes (But not limited to):

• Rei's Minimap
• Optifine
• Inventory Tweaks
• Advanced HUD
• Unreal Shaders
• Camera Studio
• Zombes (Only if allowed by Zombes4Bukkit)
• Xray mods (Banable offense on most servers)

If you use MagicLauncher to install your mods, you can set up profiles and name them accordingly. This allows you to quickly switch from a mod setup that isn't compatible with SMP to one that is. It also allows you to change the amount of RAM that you launch with. Normally you launch with 500mb - 1gb. I launch with 16gb.

Eg: "Modded SSP 1.3.2" "Modded SSP 1.4.2" "Modloader" "Forge" Etc

And what if I want to install something that alters the gameplay? Im thinking of the SMART moving mod. Will it be impossible to join until I've uninstalled it? Or will it automatically force my minecraft client into the normal setting?

I've looked for info on the page of the mod itself, but I can't find an anwser.

I've gotten Smart Moving on a server myself; It will appear as if you're doing the actions, but no one else can see them. Also, if you try to high jump, climb fences, etc. It will probably bolt you to the ground to prevent you from "Flying." But yes, you can have Smart Moving on servers.

Just to be sure, I'll uninstall it before going on any server. Don't want to get on the nerves of any admins, It's a pain in the neck, but I do have modloader now so it could be worse.

By the way Mags, did you build that stone fence that passes right outside my hut and completely fences off the village? If so, either include me or keep the border at a reasonable distance from my home. It's annoying having a fence cutting right through the piece of land where you planned to build your stuff.

my floating island / future tree city was originally going to be an semi submerged dome... then someone built a house on it... so I built above it, as you do, showing my dominance =p

Also, havn't been on yet but how do you physically work the market, can we build our own (cause i want to put shops in my city) and does it sell spawn eggs (so I can add animal variety to my tree)?

I'm afraid Memodrix has any and all backups, not me. If he has the 1.3.2 world and we decide to upload it via Multiverse, we'll do that. If you just want it offline, I'm sure he can email you the map file.

I only need the Tyre section of it, and we will decide if we want to put it online on our server later, so the map file would be awesome. We just miss playing in out city.

Also, unrelated to this server, but about Minecraft more in general, what are the 'essential' ssp mods? I already run optifine and mine little pony (essential to me) through magic launcher, but am interested in adding more mods.

I've not worked out the best way to do the market yet. Whether to protect the lot so it can't be griefed, and have to set up signs for people, or just leave it open for anyone to claim chests and set up shops. So far it sells chickens and pigs, and will sell cows and mooshrooms, but these are obviously rather expensive.

We're not going to be able to take out a chunk of the map, that's more trouble than it's worth. Like I said, if Memo has the map, I'm sure he could upload it to Mediafire and put a link here for everyone, but I highly doubt he's going to have the time an patience to go in and cut out your bit.

wait... that was Warlords? why didn't he say anything when I asked him about it... I thought it was just someone who decided to play once then leave. Good thing I resisted burning it down then.

well um... sorry Warlord... but in all fairness I did leave signs lying around (and a dirt foundation) when I was offline to convey my intentions for the construction site.

I wouldn't really say any mod is 'essential' apart from Optifine. Personally I like mods that just add a tiny, awesome thing to the game. If this is what you're looking for, my favourites are 3D Items, Back Tools and Moar Achievements.

Yeah, think my favorite mod though was Mo'creatures because I love that it makes the world seem more alive and only a couple of actual game play things...

I have not built anything there in awhile; It was probably xfrogboyx. I'll tell him to destroy it.

There was a mystery hut in Tyre as well. That's what we did. made up a history of the area and wrote a book about it, making the hut the museum/landmark as if it was the first building in the area.

If I actually go on the server within 5 years (Or longer) where do I have to build my house? Do I like, claim some land or something?
Also, I have a habit of making deep earth holes by digging straight down, do I have to fill them up after I've collected my loot?

A. build anywhere that isn't physically taken up by somebody else
B. Up to you, if in remote areas not needed really, but if close to hubs like span it might be wise to cover them or at least leave a warning sign or something.

if the space in question has a block on it...

e.g bricks planks... anything that looks un-natural

...don't replace the block
