I
wolves, or Wolfies
But they seem so much more well made than the other mobs... i almost feel as though some of the mobs have to be updated to be on par with them....

I know I'm a little late into this, okay really late into this, but I bought Minecraft earlier today and its really fun. I'm somewhat addicted and I've only played for a few hours.
I made a cozy cave to stay in, but while I was fixing it up, a creeper jumped in and blew up. There goes that smile I had on my face. I had to rebuild before nightfall because I freak out if I'm not sheltered, lmao.

Thanks!

I actually found that rather... cute. Also the dogs look nice too, THEY SHAKE OFF WATER :O
Okay, this is where I have my problems (and worries).I can imagine having a little pack of them take down a creeper....or maybe not. Hopefully they aren't too rare.
I don't want to send my Wolfies to kill a Creeper if the Creeper ends up blowing up and killing my Wolfies!

Think wolves will come with new drops? They could drop wolf pelts which are used to produce clothing in turn with wool or something which gives me an idea. I'm not sure where they would appear but it could lead up to something like to obtain a certain item which only appears in a certain place you have to have a special item in this case you would have to have warm clothing to go into the ice cave else you slowly die. The recipe would be the same as regular armor except you would have to place the wolf pelts and wool in alternate places so for the breast plate/jacket you would have (top to bottom left to right P=wolf pelt W=Wool B=Blank) 1st row P,B,W 2nd row P,W,P 3rd row W,P,W. Never gonna happen but it would be cool if it did.

EDIT: sniped! awesome idea.... maybe a gas mask agains dangerous gas that works simular to water only its upside down? found in crazy caves...
The wolves will definetly be awesome, im suprised that he actually is going to add them, it seems soooo you know, "another-thing-that-makes-life-at-minecraft-a-heckload-easier-so-we-can-sit-down-and-watch-the-game-play-itself."
like most mods.
markus also mentioned rewards/acheivements... makes me happy, one week earlier i suggested just that
GAH i gotta empty my mind with some thoughts now
sometimes i just feel like there should be a little more... something to fight for... being creative in minecraft survival is pretty much impossible as you have to turn the entire world upside down to gather the materials, and to just "survive" as long as possible isn't very hard anymore, we can just respawn and collect our stuff again, if they are dropped in lava we can just turn the world upside down again and Make new stuff. Also if we wanted to create something there's always a minecraft classic.
Getting secret awards gives us something to actually fight for, "Survive 50 creeper attacks in one night!" "survive 100 nights without dying in a row" it fulfills the idea of a "game".
but do a "game" really need to have goal? Maybe minecraft just isnt for me.
... there is still much of things to fix in minecraft after all it just left the alpha version, and soon enough markus said he would try make a adventure mode with story and all.
the "purpose" of minecraft today is pretty much -Build a fancy house and craft every item you possibly can. or -Gather millions of diamonds.
but once you have done that...? sure it's partly true that "it's not the goal that matters- but the adventure towards it" but after all building stuff is not much of a adventure.
in my own opinion a game needs a goal... a game that's made for creating without a goal is rather a creative artistic-sorth-of-program.
minecraft is the only artistic tool i have seen that includes zombies... :]I forget stuff! Remind me please!

Well, Minecraft is a very "Make Your Own Goals" game. For example, that fantastic Double-Helix Tower ingrained in that awesome natural formation isn't going to build itself! It's practically LBP, minus the poppit. And the 'Share' part, unless you're playing SMP.

I was looking at the minecraft forums and I saw a thread about people playing "dwarf mode" which basically means living underground and never going to the surface. Well, guess what I've been doing during the last week? Basically just that, except for the fact that I do visit the surface because I'm a sucker who finds it boring to live underground 24/7... I could live underground forever, I do have a tree farm, a room with grass (animals = bacon and stuff) and a pool (which provides me with unlimited fish, lol) Also, I will build a farm where I'll grow wheat. Oh right, I should also build a reed farm for sugar so that I can have cakes.
Oh yeah, one little tip for those who struggle to get eggs. Find chickens, spawn them in a room or something, whatever. Then, be in that room for a while.
I had 8 chickens in my animal room and I got 10 eggs in about 6 minutes.

Is anyone else having problems connecting to Minecraft's website?
I'm also suddenly getting this huge amount of lag?
Does anyone else think the servers are being attacked again?

Noob question: Does anyone know how I can do SMP(survival multiplayer) with my friend?

Download the sever software from minecraft.net then create a map by running the server. Then find out your ip by googling what is my ip, top website should tell you it. Tell your friend that ip and both of you sign into multiplayer with that ip whilst running the server.

They look like they're going to be pretty handy but according to notch they will be quite rare.
