Your plan was to build a city, and a city is being built. Let people do what they want, I can see were you are coming from with the whole griefing part, but just because someone is cheating for his own house doesn't mean the city isn't working. And to be honest you've cheated a couple of times too. The server is meant to be a place to have fun and if someone doesn't like chopping down trees, cooking cobblestone, etc, then so be it. You'll feel much more satisfied knowing you've built the things you have legitimately and that's all that should matter.

Clay, since you seem to love these rants so much I thought I'd give one a try....especially since in my more awake state I notice a few things you said yesterday that were completely down to lack of thinking :/

First of all I thought it was ironic that in the same minute you said I especially don't care about your stuff and should leave the server if I'm not going to have a contribution, when the only contribution I've had to the server thus far is repairing your shet :/ Your basement didn't rebuild itself when it got blown up and your house didn't de-obsidian and de-flood itself after the cake issues.

Also, you said I should be using my day doing something else with my life, which isn't taking timezones into consideration :/ My day's already over, what do you recommend I do differently at 10pm/11pm when I come on to act brain-dead for an hour rather than catch the end of a film on Film4 or (God forbid) finish some work.

I suppose with you still being quite young I can tolerate the odd whine about Inan, but like spider said, there's nothing really different about your house except for a dog door with no dog to use it :/ And don't bring the emotional stress + morals into this in future because you shouldn't be that worked up over a game :/

With WorldGuard you can define a region around the city and set flags, like no creeper explosions, no mob damage, no TNT, only allowed players can build there...

Reason why I've been thinking about turning mobs on is because of a plug-in called MonsterHunt.

Oh god yes. I've been using the plugin back in hMod and loved it.

Guys, just let it drop for now. One side''s opinions will be bias no matter what, and I understand why and there is nothing wrong with it. Inan and I have since apologized to each other and if you read one of the posts above, Spider_Jew said to drop it, and my lack of reply agreed to that. If you have any complaints still, I suggest sending them to Whaaaaale.

So I was thinking about buying the game and I remembered this thread. What do you guys think about Minecraft? I've been watching Yogscast so far and it looks fun in multiplayer, but what about single player?

Singleplayer is fun, but Multiplayer is even more fun. You can PvP, build together, play spleef or just screw around with others by dropping cookies in front of their door and leave them wondering why the hell there were cookies on the ground. :D

I prefer singleplayer, Mainly because multiplayer is really glitchy. It's still fun though, I enjoy it. Surviving on Hard mode is really fun on singleplayer.

Not sure, it might be because I had to redownload the plug-ins because we had outdated ones. I must've forgotten to add you back to the whitelist, your username is plasmavore right? If so, you're whitelisted.

How flexible do you say it is though? Like can I set multiple regions? Like say one region for every house, and set it up so the only person that can build in that region is the owner of the house? And will it interfere with any other plug-ins on the server? Like (EssentialsProtect) for example.

EDIT: Does it work with GroupManager? It seems like it's made for Permissions, and I don't use Permissions, I tried using it but GroupManager is pretty much the exact same thing and much easier to use IMO.

Oh btw Whale, the sign protection thing has one major flaw. It does prevent direct borrowing of items but if someone wants to steal items then that is no problem since you can just destroy the block the sign is placed on and use the chest after that.

It don't know about Essentials since I use CommandBook instead of it. But yes, you can set multiple regions, even with parents and the like.
So you would first use a wooden axe to make an enourmous area around the city, write //expand vert to make it stretch from bedrock to sky and then use /region city Whaale to set the region. The commands is /region [name] [owner1] [owner2] [...]
Now you can set various flags using /region flag [name] [flag] . For example you could use /region flag city mob-damage deny and /region flag city creeper-explostion deny to make the city mob safe.
For specific houses you can use above command first, like /region house_suyo Whaale. Then add the plot owner as a member using /region addmember house_suyo TheSuperyoshi. This will allow them to build in there, but not to change region settings. Good flags are /region flag house_suyo tnt deny and /region flag house_suyo lighter deny. Also, for all regions the flag chest-access is denied so only owners can open chests (makes [Protection] signs obsolete).

EDIT: Don't know if it supports GM, but if I remember correctly WorldGuard comes with a config file where you can set permissions, too.
