    Default ROBO-RAMPAGE X (series) -SPOTLIGHTED-

Hi, these are the first two levels of my newest series. I am currently working on the third. These are challenging, combat oriented paintinator levels with some tricky platforming done in the old-school style.

    ROBO-RAMPAGE X
    ROBO-RAMPAGE X 2

So far these levels have done pretty well, but they are difficult so some casual players may not enjoy them. But, I've been told that even if you are not that good it's worth a look at the opening screens!

Pics now available! (thanks to my old pal, Maraz_Matari) right now they can be viewed on page two until I can figure out how to get the links into this post properly. (Those that know me are aware of my lack of computer skills.)

Although these levels are rather hard, they are also quite fun. I'm notoriously bad at these, but they're extremely well put together levels for people who want a challenge. Very much inspired by the mega man series, these levels are certainly a must play!

oh, and dimo, you should post some pictures of your levels if you get a chance, so people can get a taste of what it's like.

Hey dude! Pictures would probably help, eh? I'm kind of a technophobe but you are probably right. Can I do that with a digital camera? Seriously, don't make fun, I really have never done this, but I think it would be a good idea. Could I do video too?

dimo, one thing you could do is export pictures you take in-game to your playstation harddrive. Then you'd just take a usb thumb drive or something, sign up for a photobucket account and follow the instructions to upload your pictures. It's pretty easy!

if you want a video, you could film it with a video camera on a tripod pointed at the screen and then just upload it to youtube. that's what I do. ^_^

Holy cow, man... I'm playing part 1, and this level is absolutely gorgeous. Just simple red and black, but it's the ornate carving and symmetry of everything, and the subtle white light that makes everything sparkle and sheen.

This is arguably the most well constructed and architecturally sound level I've seen. The emitting slider thing is sick! These enemy designs are entertainingly awesome, and this is one monumental challenge. I can definitely see it's roots in Mega Man and Mega Man X. It took me like 6 tries to beat the MID-boss... the random nature of the floating eyeballs and the vertical platforming makes him alot harder than the final boss. That final boss is AWESOME! My favorite boss yet.

I love the enemy description thing.

You did everything I wish I could have done with the platforming segments in Metal Slug Solid, but couldn't because of the tank.

Super polished... top 5 production values I've seen. I can't give you any legitimate critiques, other than the fact you can kill the enemy that drops little bitty jumpers without actually going into the room with him. Might want to add a little extension on the body to block his flanks. Also, your scoreboard could be spruced up a little if there's thermometer space left (probably not since the paint gun is stopped up). Just put a one plane border around it with red VR or something.

I can't believe I've been seelping on these for so long.
I hearted you, and I'm going to TRY and beat all your ROBO levels.

    6/5 stars, surprisingly awesome.

P.S. there's some weird hitch when I start the level... the emitters are taking a minute to load in and sort itself out, and the paintinator won't fire for a few minutes. Might be something you can do to limit the amount of objects being emitted at one time. Could be some that don't need to emit until the player is near.

Edit: Part 2... ICE-MAN stage... not quite as impressed with this, because I like red and black, but it's still perfectly constructed, the enemies are awesome again. The waterfall effect you created is astoundingly realistic, but in perfect accord with the flat and simple tones of the rest of the level. The collapsable pillars is a highlight for me, the elevator part was intense and extremely well done, and OMG, this boss is hardcore! The look of the play area is just ridiculously intricate. It's like angular celtic artwork. I haven't beaten him yet, but I will eventually. It's late and I gotta rest...

Best paintinator levels out there. Anybody I know... PLAY THESE!

Dude! thanks so much, I have such a hard time getting people to play these levels. I'm not sure if it's me personally or what, but they hardly get plays, I was wondering if there was something wrong with them. On top of that, the people that do play them only complain about the difficulty. I'm really glad you took the time to play the whole thing (not to mention getting to the end of part 2. no one gets to see that boss), as you can imagine, it took a bit of time to get it all right. Let me know if there is a level in particular you want feedback on and I'd be more than happy to check it out.

Thanks dude, you're a pretty cool guy. And I must say, your levels are pretty B.A. yourself.

The only reason I see people having problems with the level is difficulty.... I noticed the first time I played your second one it was tagged with rubbish... which really makes me worry about the majority of people that play little big planet... I guarantee you they can probably run through a typical first person shooter that requires many buttons to play and would keep at it even if its a challenge, it could be the crappiest game in the world and they would love it.... Yet a level in little big planet that requires three buttons at most can make them run away with their tails between their legs. It really is sad in my opinion....especially with how well done these are...

Anyways I'm done ranting here's my thoughts on your levels.

    PROS

-The visuals are great. Just love the look of these levels.

-All the custom enemies and how you set up the speech bubbles.

-Difficult, can also be a con but not in my book, unless of course its not a well done challenge/obstacle which is certainly not the case here.

-Bosses - Though I didnt see the ones in the second level yet I'm sure they are great like the firsts.

    CONS

-I really had no problems with the first one... except for with the door that squished me and being able to kill the XyDropper without having to actually go down and fight him.. (you may have fixed these though havent played the first one in a bit, think I mentioned this in another post also)

    The second one

-I don't know its probably just me but the layout of the level felt alot like the first one.... just the way it was set up from the vent talking right when you get in to the jump, sure you dont have to shoot the crab but it felt almost like the same jumps, the robots after that had shields..which the ones in the first one sort of worked the same way. mob after that even reminded me of the XyDropper but with glass thrown into the mix and having to kill him three times.... not really a con I guess since it doesnt mess with the gameplay.. just seemed like it was almost exactly the same from the beginning up until the elevator. (which is where I died, awesome job on that though loved it)

I will play it again and bring some more feedback for the second one when I manage to beat it...

I personally love these levels and take my friends into them any chance I get and recommend all to play them. It really is a shame we cant all share the same appreciation for a well done challenge like pretty much all the old mega man games... I mean my goodness I remember even on some of the harder mario levels sitting there for hours at a time trying to beat them... I dont know I guess the only thing most kids these days have patience for is to run and gun in some shooter. Which dont get me wrong, can be very enjoyable, but I think it's ruined their senses to what a real challenge is, and should be in a game.

Anyways, I would give these levels as many hearts as I could... but you'll have to settle for one each and 5/5 stars. Great work... look forward to the rest of the series.

Thanks, Doc.! I have to agree with you to a degree as far as the level layout in RRX2, I wasn't super-thrilled about it myself, but the boss (let alone the mid-boss and re-spawning enemies) took up over a quarter of the thermo so I couldn't take as much room as I wanted for the platforming sections. That was kind of the reason why I used the elevator in the second section. It was the most thermo effective way to add length to the level, and I felt that part was a "highlight" of the level, so to speak.

Hey I finally got around to play the first. I've been working on a new level myself so play time is rationed.

This level is great. It looks great and it's nice to see a straight out shooter level. I like the enemies bios you threw in there, it's a nice touch. Mid Boss is one of the coolest bosses I've played yet. There are safe spots at the last boss which makes it easy to avoid all of his attacks on either of the far sides of the room however. Some of the ideas are very interesting as well , like the swinging section (which is a pro and a con of the level I found). Overall the biggest problem you'll likely have is the complaints about the difficulty. Myself, I only found a couple of problem section that require a little more than raw skill, the main being the swinging section. I found that being momentum swinging is more of a user created technique rather than something that MM made the engine suitable for, this spot requires a bit of luck on your run through it. Nothing major just a small note.

    + Looks great
    +Feels classic
    +Great challenge
    +Great enemies
    +Short and sweet, highly replayable
    +Solid platforming

-Boo Hooers will cry about it's challenge
-Swinging conveyer section is a bit iffy, though it's a great idea

5 stars, hearted it and you!

Hey, man, thanks! You're the first person to not complain about the mid-boss, I hope it wasn't too easy ;). But I'll be honest with you, I don't want to give it away but the hanging part can be done very easily with the following trick (hopefully I can explain this properly): Jump as far to the right as you can and grab the conveyor at the max height. At this point, if you just hold left and steadily tap R-1 you should just glide across, no momentum building needed. Maybe I should just put up a video. Anyway, I appreciate the feed back. I was playing one of your levels the other day, can't remember the name but I'm pretty sure I had to fix a truck. It was really good, I'll throw some feedback your way as soon as I finish, It got surprisingly tricky out of nowhere and I just wasn't prepared! Definitely cool though.

That was Terror's Manor! It's my favorite level I made so far, but some people find it difficult. Thanks for checking it out. Try to finish sometime. There's a few cool bosses.
