Cool never saw this thread before.

OmegaSlayer and Thegide you guys have some serious talent.

I haven't played guitar for over a year now and i'm starting to feel the withdrawal effects.

My guitars are a Jackson RX10D and a Jackson Kelly KE2 with custom paint job and bodywork which i got for $450 Australian six years ago, it was so cheap because it was broken stock and didn't work that well and was originally worth $1800. When i bought it i was still at school so took it to metal works class and rebuilt it from the inside out and it was the best guitar i had played with a sound like no other Kelly i had tested.

One draw back is how heavy it it compared to a standard kelly because of the wood used and all the interior patchwork. I used it to perform my own instrumental song i wrote in music class for my HSC called Battle Roans.
Because of the work i did on it to repair it the sound was more distorted and heavier so it was always hard to tune but sounded like a beast when i played it even my best mate who has four guitars envied it.

Unfortunately it was dropped down a flight of stairs when i was moving and broke in many places. Now the sound is a little off and takes ages to tune. One day i will repair it again though also my $1000 distortion pedal gave in on me a few months back.
For now i use the Jackson RX10D.

    Oh! Cool!
    And thanks!
That video is 8 months old...must do sumfin' new as I said.

Take the guitar back!...I highly suggest it as someone that stopped for almost 8 years and regrets it soooo much!

Cool, Jacksons are hot gears, even though I found their neck too thin in my hands, though really great stuff.
Please upload some pic of the Kelly, it will be cool to see that Frankenstein guitar

I have a black Ibanez Gio electric and a Tanglewood Acoustic (which sounds beautiful). I'm not the best, but always getting better.

  5. Thanks!

I've been studying Cynic's stuff lately. It's impressive how the set up guitar structures.
It's totally different and unusual, besides the techinque.
I'm very enjoying it a lot.
It's really a way to widen your knowledge and skills.

Never heard of Cynic before they sound pretty good. There are some good guitar techniques in there as well.

Heres a vid i found for one of my favourite Scorpion Songs that shows you how to play the intro to Rock you Like a Hurricane. I have been using this to get back into the guitar along with my old riffs i made back at school.

One of my main pieces for practicing back then was Concerto by Cacophony. Its ****ed hard but good practice for your timing and speed.

Cool, Concerto has a couple of tricky passages, but it's only up to insane practice and practice and practice.
Though it's one of the best guitar instrumental ever made.
    Kudos if you play that

I can't play the whole song well not yet anyway just the first few minutes and other parts here and there.
Its still good practice though same as one By Metalica.

I'll try and get a pic of my guitar at some point but right now its packed away. And i want to get some new parts for it. Also the neck broke in half. It was cracked so it was only a matter of time till it happened. I hope i can fix it cause its hard to say bye to an old friend

    Yeah, I feel you.
The guitar my Grandpa bought to me is a bit worned out, I wanted to repaint it, but...it's a memento of my grandpa, of lots of gigs and lots of adventures

Yeah my Great grandmother bought me a Bass guitar 2 years before she died. I wanted to sell it because i don't really use it or play bass much anymore so it just collects dust and gets in the way. But because she bought it for my birthday even though she had hardly any cash i don't really think i could get rid of it.

Even though i haven't really played guitar much in the last couple years i have still been creating riffs and small songs with a PC program called Guitar Pro 5 which is quite cool.
Its kept me busy and kept my musical creativity alive but not the same as randomly picking up the guitar and creating a new riff on the spot with my mate.
I'll try and upload some of the things i have created with it with the new Kaiser baas: Series 8 Game Recorder i just bought. All i have to do is connect it from one PC to the other or just make WAV's of the songs and play through the PS3 or something.
Its not quite guitar playing but the riffs and tunes in them even the string and piano sections were mostly created playing guitar when i was at school.
I never could read sheet music but tabs i know like the back of my hand.

    OMGOMGOMG
    *droools a lot*

And by the way, I must get some new picks.
After a decade or more I abandoned the Jim Dunlop Big Stubby 3.0 mm

and I moved the the 2.0 mm, and felt a lot better and quick and relaxed with a lighter pick...now I ordered some Jim Punlop Tortex sharp 1.5 mm

let's see if I'll found it even more comfortable

    Cool

I usually use 1.5mm as well but mostly i like the 60mm Jim Dunlop picks which i use for fast picking.

Just testing new strings (Ernie Ball 7 string .10-.59) and new pick (JimDunlop JazzIII).
Pretty much fail, the strings that are not wounded are too smooth and are subjected to more tension than D'Addario sets of the same gauge.
The pick bends and that's not good at all for fast picking, also it's too small and hard to control to give flavour to the picking (I like to change the angle of picking to give accents or chunkier vibes).
I bought a full 12 pick pack of Tortex Sharp that I will take today at the shop.
    Hopefully those will be better

    Just for the LULZ

Thats some nice picking there Omega you definately have some talent there.

Yeah i find D'Addario to be the best strings most of the time.

    Thanks Lord
I must say that I blanked the screen to not show the insane faces I pull.

The perfect combination should be Ernie for 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th and D'Addario on the first 3, and guess what, I already annoyed the guitar shop for this.
Also, I took the picks, they're definitely the deal, even if 1.35 MAY be better, I need to get used to them though, I will still try combinations, since it's incredible how strings and pick can affect the style both in a positive or negative way.
