Default The Islands, Endurance Dojo: Further Training

Hi! I'm not new here, though I haven't posted here in a while so me posting a level here makes me feel selfish, so I'm all for F4F, and is in a way a path to redemption

If you want feedback, PM me so I don't overlook you, I'm a clumsy ****. I'll try to reply ASAP but don't expect an immediate response, I WILL get back to you though, I promise.

Level:- The Islands, Endurance Dojo: Further Training
    PSN:- kobrakai15
Description:- Not much to say about it, it's based on the story level Endurance Dojo, just with more obstacles. I didn't want to make an atmospheric experience here, just a difficult but fun one . Aim: get to the end, and have fun.

Well, that is if you like your levels with a bit of a challenge...

Ok, i tryied it now. It's a cool level, good grapich, a nice endurance level. The level it's hard, but not impossbile, but i found problems in a place: when you are in the zone with the orizzontal glass pieces, you must jump and hang on a green sponge. The sponge go up and you must jump on another sponge, placed on the floor. When you hang it, the sponge go up lie a catapulte, but witrh many tentatives, i can't jump to the next platform.
The level was nice, you can add a soundtrack, and maybe the infinite checkpoints can help If you fix the bug i found, this can be a fun challenge level

  4. Thanks!

I tried it. The first part was very tricky. Getting speed on the glas was quit hard to gain. But it was challenging in a good way. Then at the wheels the spong disappeart as i tried to get a better position.

Well. On my second try i didn't even pass the wheels. Perhaps make the ceiling non-elecetric?

I fear with this difficulty most people will tag it "nerve wrecking" or "frustrating".

Could you make it an inch easier?

I organize all my LBP ideas in a Google Docs folder. Feel free to have a look. I'd love to have some feedback too! http://tiny.cc/lbpvandoc

  6. Thanks!

Try swinging yourself as far across to the edge of the first green sponge to swing to the second floor sponge. it's tricky but do-able. I'm not gonna add infinite checkpoints, since it takes away a sense of danger IMO, but i will try and make bits easier and fix the dificulty of that sponge bit.

The sponge disappeared? Weird. As i've just said I'll try and alter the levels, not too much, but so it's difficult in a less frustrating way.

I'll give you two feedback tomorow, it's 11:50pm in england and I have schoolage. Thanks for the advice.

Alright, giving feedback as i play:

    - Alright, hard from the beginning, you're not messing around XD

    - Pfff.. I die so many times on the wobly cardboard part...

    - Uhmm.. you're grab switch does not work. After the secret part with loads of points, there was a little zipline thing, but i grabbed it, and the sponge didn't dissapear.

PM me whenever you fixed it and i will retry your level

  9. Thanks!

Fixed, I also made certain failsafes to ensure the level doesn't become unfinishable at the zip lines! Thanks for the feedback.

    Thumbs up

Wow, ok you should be arrested. you just killed my poor little sackboy like twice as much as the story levels ever did (all put together)

Deffinately the hardest level ive played. (anyone aced it yet?) anyway great level.

Pros. REALLY challenging, way more so than anything else ive seen out there... its extremely hard, but in a way where when you die you wanna keep trying until you beat it.

all the obsticals were really unique and original, very good level design.

beautiful everything, I loved the evil looking cloud girl at the begining, sets a great tone for the rest of the level.

I was able to beat it! (after only 4 continues)

Really loved the level, i 5 stared it, think I hearted too, but if not I will in just a bit.

ok Cons. there werent many that I would call cons.

    heres what I got though,

add a close level switch, a few times I would be in the middle of an obsitcal and get killed because someone joined. then they would die like 17 times and I would have to start all over. (intrestingly though I actually beat it on 2p, but he was dead most the time)

some parts were a little confuzing.. bigest example is the part (hope i can explane this) right after the thin glass platforming part, wher you have to grab onto the plaform attached to the wench, and then swing to the other platform which is also on a wench, but it just shoots up to a vertical posittion (i took a picture i may post here to show you what I mean) and you gotta grab the second platform and use the momentum to launch you all the way to the hanging ball across the way... yea I died a whole bunch there. finally got it though, so I guess if it's possable than its not a problem right?

and last thing (definately not really a con, just want to mention it) I love the level, but be prepared to have a really low score from the general LBP comunity, most of these player are EXTREMELY novice and wont make it through the first jump, so you may get alot of 1 star rating ( ive said it before and will say it again, I hate the general LBP comunity, i wish people who havent created any levels them selves werent allowed to comment on them)

but yea Great level, LOT of fun, had a really good time, 5 star, will heart if I havent already, just wanted to hope back on here while it was still fresh to me.

I REALLY appreciate the feedback, it's great to know people can enjoy a level I made in order to **** people off xD

On fixing things I will add an arrow sticker at the lauch platform obstacale
to make it more obvious on what to do there.

As for the difficulty, I don't care if people find it difficult, I mainly create challenging levels; 1 for the devote players who want to have a challenge and also for my friends when they come round so I can watch them squirm :P

If I get penalised for it, then so be it. It's no ones fault the LBP community is made of noobish kids, I'm just hoping time will iron out these 'problems'

Again, thank you for the feedback.

Bravo, and if everyone catered to the n3wBs there would be no challenges out there. Devoted players who know how to play the game will appreciate the challenge, as for everyone else, who cares what they think.

I just like it because its tricky and difficult, but I coudnt say frusterating.. well maybe a little bit, but not too bad.

Just finished a playthrough. Here are some thoughts.

    Pros:

Creative obstacles - You've created some really original obstacles here. The first thing that sticks in my mind is the flat pieces of green sponge that, when grabbed, move upright and you have to jump with the movement. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Slide jumps - Some nice an interesting jumps that rely on the momentum from your sliding. Pretty challenging but fun.

    Cons:

Extremely tough - You certainly succeeded at making a challenging level. It is very challenging. For me it's a bit too hard, and like Madafaku said, it will turn off a lot of LBP players who find it too difficult. But you like it that way, so that's all that matters I guess.

Lack of Detail - I recommend adding a few decorations to the environment. Spruce it up a bit.

Good job on a nice, but very difficult level. I had fun with it!

  17. Thanks!

Ok i just played your level and here are my thoughts:

    Pros:

-Great difficulty, it brought a good challenge.

    Cons:

-Some instructions would be nice. All the puzzle are trial and error.

-The challenge when you walk across the glass floors then grab the sponge walls the swing open like doors is...well...stupid...I had no idea what to do and lost all my lives on it. Plus the second i have to use it to propel my self in a upward/diagonal direction?!? Good joke...barely even possible because it got stuck and went really slow, every time. Plus if you dont react your faced with automatic death.

    Im back?

  19. Thanks!

Truth be told, my use of mechanics and tools on LBP is pretty crap :/ so I tried my hardest to get around that by creating obstacles that are simplistic in technical way but have their own edge to them, ergo the glass ramps with momentum.

I will work on the level in a bit visually, mostly with stickers to act as little visual hints to help players with bits like the flipping sponge platform.

It requires some skill yes but it's not impossible. As I've said I will work some stickers on there as visual hints to what to do.

Ok, I've gone carzy with the stickers, used some as hints at the grab sponge platform on the electric nearer the end.

Everywhere else I've put them at possible points of death. This is in needed order to mock and humiliate you. Enjoy!
