    Default Kingdom of ice-olation

    Kingdom of Ice-olation

"Suplies low, You leave the camp in hopes of getting to safety however the tundra is a dangerous place. Combine the powers of fire and ice to conquer the mountain."

This is first level on this new account, It is tundra themed which gameplay is focused around fire and ice. There is also a survival element with the Hypothermia gauge.

Anyway please leave feedback and if you wish for me to review one of your levels leave the LBP.me link along side your feedback

    Thumbs up

I just played it. Overall, it was a well-done level.

The visuals were great and I like how you created the layout. It looks and feels cold. Great job with that. For the gameplay, the hypothermia metre was a nice addition, keeping you on your feet as you traverse through the ice-filled land. The mixture of fire-and-ice powers was also interesting, allowing for fun interaction with the level. My favourite part was the wall-jump section when you'd freeze the water and do some parkour.

However, there were two problems with the level, both being glitches.

    • The first time you use the freeze ability, on the flowing water, the highest ice chunk will not appear if the water is frozen by shooting the lower water flow. I was very confused the first time I tried this and spent far too much time at this point trying to figure out what to do (thought it was a puzzle). I ended up having to restart it a few times.

    • At the checkpoint before the wall jump section, I got stuck behind the ice and ended up having to restart.

Your level was excellent. I loved the way it looked. Just fix those bugs!

    My level.

I think I have sorted the first issue not entirely sure however I need more details on the second if the fire was started the ice should have melted within 3 seconds.

The fire wasn't actually started. The checkpoint activated before the fire was lit and I ended up in there.

That is unusual, Was it a 1 off or do you think it is a one off glitch or could you simulate it again, I will make a failsafe reguardless to melt the ice blocking it if your sack is behind it.

As of now all reported gliches should be fixed and a common problem with the droplete section been improved.

Making it melt when a player is behind is a good idea because there could always be that one weird incident where somebody end up behind it and gets trapped.

    Review:
    1. Detail
The detail put into this level was amazing. It was very visual appealing.
    2. Gameplay
The gameplay was okay. At some points, i got confused of where to go and what to do because everything in the level looked so similar. I'd suggest to make more fast-paced obstacles to catch the gamer's attention more.
    3. Creativity
Very original. hadn't seen any other level like it.
    4. Length
Too short. I'd suggest putting a level link in your level to add length to it.
    5. Bugs
There was one bug i came across however. on the bounce pad scene, one of the ice platforms wasn't disappearing and the water droplets weren't falling. Its a very minor bug if you ask me.
    Rating: 4/5 good job!

Thanks for the review I think I know what causes that and I will work on it right away. However for now there is a fail safe where you can fire the fire ball to melt it. I am working on a sequel levels.

I really did enjoy this level. I loved the idea, it was unique and very creative. The gameplay was well suited but at times a bit frustrating. The detail was amazing. It gave a nice chilly feel. I came across two things that weren't very nice.

You should really arrange those into a different position. It looks like really lazy work. Consider changing the size of each so they look different from one another. (This was present throughout the level so look out for anything that looks like this and change it)

The other bit was where you had to freeze the water droplets so you can cross to the other side. Whenever you froze the water droplet it would spawn the platform a bit higher up from the actual droplet. So whenever I froze the water droplet I wasn't able to bounce up on top it bcause it was to high from where it was supposed to be. Make the platform spawn where the actual water droplet is.

That is pretty much it. A really enjoyable level. (: My level

Visually, this level looks nice, I like the ice effects, and the atmosphere really suits the it. However, I felt some areas were a tad to dark o see what I was doing. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but the blue bar would sometimes not deplete throughout my whole life, or sometimes if it ran out, it would just start counting down again? However, I did enjoy this level

Great level! The visuals were great and I loved the concept. I wish it were longer! My only advice is to make objectives more intuitive so you don't have to rely so heavily on hand-holding (like using button stickers and arrows to tell the player what to do). If you could find a way to visually indicate what to do through the objects rather than signs, I think that would make it better. Or maybe don't change anything and just make this a prologue to a series? I'd love to see more like this Btw awesome northern lights at the end :O

I have relied on this type of method for other levels I made http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/sho...458-Danto-Saga. but when making this level I hadn't decided if this should be a reboot or a stand alone level.

As for a sequel let's just say there are still some features which are in the ice powerup which weren't utilized in the level.

In the sequel can we please see direct control instead of Sackbots dressed as the player character, the non direct control caused problems with Sackbots getting stuck to walls in places... Additionally the jumping points for platforms weren't flat enough, which in turn led to the player dying from losing control, not through a lack of skill. Also, an inconsistency in ice columns that could and couldn't be melted caused mild confusion. And I personally would have liked the cave to light up when a fire was lit but thermo issues may have arisen...
That's not to say this isn't a good level, it has already received the accolade it deserves and has higher plays than my ice level... Ice refracts light beautifully and that element wasn't explored at all and it was difficult to see the screen (scee recommends gaming in a well lit room), a little less dark wouldn't hurt... A job well done overall, keep creating.

I am a little confused by this. This didn't exist in the level, The only sackbot is the wolf at the end and you just play as the avarage sackthing (Note how your character swims through water at the start). Also every block that can be melted is label and is a different material to other ice (Waterfall material with 0% animation) as opposed to the actual ice material.

(To everyone) As for dark I am trying to find a 1 brighteness that fits all but tbh this level was made to entirely completely visuable on the darkest setting on LBP2 on my PS3 and then tested and adjusted to work for 6 others before made public in the middle of summer. Even my friends with bad eyesight don't have an issue. There just isn't a perfect brightness for this level, This level is actually only about 20% dark the vast majority of the dark just comes from the fact the level is set to night not day, Anyway I have fiddled for it to have brighter settings but take my word on this there is only so far it can go before the entire aatmosphere of the level is ruined and the level looks ugly.

Could always place lights in places, and just make specific spots sliiiightly lighter, rather than a 'one-fix-all' solution. Granted, I have yet to try this level out myself. Could be a difference in TV settings between you and them.

I still really REALLY wish this game was on PC as well. So much potential.

That's what I am thinking. It is designed so light reflects off of the platforms you actually walk on and only shadowed areas are areas where you can clearly see spikes from the ground and a bright purple material to grab is hovering above it.

So! Finally got around to playing it, and lighting was not an issue for me at all! Although, there were many other problems that would need addressing; some simply aesthetic and scene specific, but others more mechanical.

    Silly stuff:
For a guy who can make fire, it was somewhat funny as to why he couldn't warm himself up without wood; wood that happened to be placed in a fire pit position. I'm not even sure how that wood got there in the first place, but I'll just assume [insert explanation here].
    > Can melt an entire stream.
    > Giant snowball is unaffected.

    The SRS Stuffs:
The aiming arrow was somewhat bothersome due to the layer it was on, and the camera.
The water drop platforms should spawn the platforms where the water is frozen.
Sometimes, sense of direction or where to go wasn't obvious, or really shown well. I didn't even notice the fire places at first.
Sometimes the spawn points didn't activate at the right times.
The sneaking section seemed very very random. Not to mention the inyourface sneak sign.

The level certainly looked nice, but the actual gameplay was lacking. Although I did enjoy the concepts.
    - Freezing/Melting things
    - Sneaking (Though could have been muuuuuch better)
    - Freezing meter (Which was a neat addition, but had a very 'Meh whatever' feel)

To me, the level was so-so. The gameplay wasn't really all that enjoyable. Had more fun enjoying what it could have been, than what it was. Felt very prototypey.

I still really REALLY wish this game was on PC as well. So much potential.
