Default LittleBigPlanet 3: How to Backup Data on PlayStation 4

Backing up your LittleBigPlanet 3 Save Data on PlayStation 4

If you’re new to LittleBigPlanet or a returning player that is wondering where all of our Profile Backup options have moved to, here’s a guide on how you can back up your Profile, Progress or Level Save Data to ensure that your exploits on LittleBigPlanet 3 are kept safe, should you ever find you need to backtrack a little..

    • From the PlayStation 4 Home Screen scroll up and select SETTINGS.
    • Select APPLICATION SAVED DATA MANAGEMENT.
    • Select SAVED DATA IN SYSTEM STORAGE
    • Select either COPY TO USB STORAGE DEVICE or UPLOAD TO ONLINE STORAGE
    • Scroll down and click on LITTLEBIGPLANET 3

From this page you will see all of your LittleBigPlanet 3 saved data.
Here’s a quick rundown of what you will be able to see on this screen!

    [PSN NAME] LittleBigPlanet 3 Profile
This is your main User Profile containing data on your general progress, collected items, in-game activity, etc.

    LittleBigPlanet 3 Adventure Save
This is your Adventure Save for your LittleBigPlanet 3 Adventure progress.

    LittleBigPlanet 3 Popit Puzzle Save
This is your Popit Puzzle Save for your LittleBigPlanet 3 Popit Puzzle progress.

    LittleBigPlanet 3 Level Backup
You can have multiple of these based on how many levels you have backed up. The name of the level and the date/time of the back-up are visible in the save data details to help you distinguish your level backups from one another.
Note: Individual Level Backups can be performed on your Moon in LittleBigPlanet 3 on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

After you have selected which data you would like to backup, simply click on Copy/Upload to either copy it to your USB device or upload it to your PlayStation Plus cloud storage.

Data is a very precious thing in a digital environment and even though we will try our best to keep things running smoothly in LittleBigPlanet, any avid content creator will tell you that keeping regular backups will help keep your progress up-to-date and allow you to revert back to a previous backup, should you ever find that you need to.

Remember to create regular backups and always keep your data safe!
Lost data makes for a very sad OddSock... And nobody wants a sad OddSock...

Well this kinda trumps the thread that I made about this.

Still, people need to know how to do this in case something happens to their profile.

  7. Thanks!

I am really glad to see level backups are available on the PS4 i was worried that might not be possible like the vita version.
Its also good to see different aspects of the game are backup-able.

I was a little disheartened when I deleted my memorizer progress to reset changes that glitched my version of LBP Vita and found it also reset the mini games in the arcade mode when i had nearly completed all of them.

  9. Thanks!

The biggest problem the OP forgot is how the save files are like 500 mb, which is too large for ps plus cloud. And this backup is useless unless you have Ps plus. The reason for such a large file is all the collected costumes, and item prizes in game. If you can separate the saves even further then it would be okay to upload. Other than that, this post doesn't really mean anything.

  13. Thanks!

You don't need PS+ to make backups, you can use a USB stick instead.

  15. Thanks!

This was my problem as well and I found out by searching around on the net that PS4 doesn't handle USB 2.0 very well so it can tend to be slow the bigger the save file is and all my usb sticks turned out to be 2.0, The only solution was to upgrade to a USB 3.0 stick. Once I did it only took LBP3 30 seconds to backup onto it.

Have a USB 2.0 harddrive on PS4, works great and super fast, can save all LBP3 files under 5 seconds, but tried two USB Sticks before, everytime I saved, it got slower and slower, at the end, about 10 backups later, both stopped and didnt want to backup anymore, because of that changed to HDD...

I've just discovered that when you play some community levels it backs up the progress in those too, so you end up with stacks of unwanted saves on PS+. I've deleted them but for now I'm staying away from community levels because I really don't want to be having to check my saves every time I play the game.

  24. Thanks!

That's on purpose, they have to store the community adventure progress (quests, collectabells, etc) somewhere. There's a setting that turns on warnings about them or something.

  26. Thanks!

Yes, and they're far too big. I'm already taking up nearly half of my allotted online storage for LBP3 and I'm certainly not going to take up any more. I hope there's a setting to turn it off entirely but at present I really don't want to go to the bother of loading the game up to find out.

  28. Thanks!
