    Hello friends,

yeahh!! The waiting finally has an end!
The contest crew has found a winner of our

    LBPC15: A New Year's Change Contest

First of all...we had a lot of fun playing your contest entries, they've all been enjoyable and entertaining! ...and rather varied!

And you all would have deserved a prize, cause one could feel that everybody has tried to give his best! So thanks a lot
to all participants for sharing your imaginative and entertaining creations with our community!

Nevertheless we had to find a winner to get a crown aaand ...here it comes!

Ladies and gentlemen, the lbpc contest crew proudly presents the winner of our LBPC15 contest:

    1st place:

    LBPC15 ~ Follow Your DreAmS
    by xxAlexInLbpxx
    https://lbp.me/v/q2qbwfp/topreviews?p=1&l=12

"Follow Your DreAmS" is a colorful platformer full of fantasy and with a funny gameplay. The change theme has been realized by the contrast between watching a boring TV show and a little journey into a fantasy land, which you can explore with your hover board! To us the best overall package!

    Congrats to our winner!

...and we have two 2nd places:

    (LBPC15) Light & Dark - Platformer
    by SuperK96
    https://lbp.me/v/q2mv40v/trailer?p=1&l=12

"Light & Dark" has a fascinating gameplay, the idea how it uses the change theme as a gameplay element has been great!

    and..

    (LBPC15) Expand Toggle!
    by blacksackman
    https://lbp.me/v/q2q10rr

"Expand Toggle!" also has used the change theme as a gameplay element in an intelligent and intriguing way. Fantastic entertainment!

The judges are thinking that both levels have deserved a second rank! Congrats for your fantastic creations!

...and here the other level entries that also haven't won a crown this time...
    in accidental order without ranking...

Create A Valentine (LBPC15) Mini Game
    by lbphart3
    https://lbp.me/v/q2qb9xh/activity

"Create A Valentine" is a beautifully designed little level! Decorating hearts and changing them this way has been a fine idea, thanks for sharing!

    (LBPC15) The Snowy year
    by MineValubleOres
    https://lbp.me/v/q2n/topreviews?p=1&l=12

"The Snowy Year" has been fun to play with fine gameplay ideas in a beautiful wintry scenery! Well done!

    (LBPC15) An unexpected change
    by ThomasDorland
    https://lbp.me/v/q2q-92n/topreviews?p=1&l=12

"An unexpected change" has chosen a sad theme, the change as a story element by the loss of a loved one. With a story that makes the player curious for more! Fine level and we're hoping that there could be a happy end in a sequel!

Thank you all for participating and having made the contest a fine one!

I really enjoyed playing all the entries with their crazy designs and great soundtracks! Congratulations to the winners!
Thank you to the organizers for keeping the play-create-share spirit alive and kicking, hopefully this site still has some more stuff up it's sleeves. In any case it has had a great run and it has been a privilege to be a part of some of the contests through the years.

There were some very nice entries here! I'm very curious as to your reasoning for choosing Follow Your Dreams as the winner.

Whatever it is, we want to see THE CHANGE! If it’s a bad change, how did your character(s) solve the problem? If it’s a good change, what we’re things like before it happened?
Show us in a single, story driven level. You may include cinematics if you like, but we will be judging the interactive gameplay of your level.
Cinematics are allowed, but we are judging the gameplay of each level.
Take out the intro cinematic and the level description and it's just any other level with gameplay that does not represent the theme of the contest at all. Many other entries had gameplay that demonstrates "change" but this level does not. You said you are judging by the gameplay, yet obviously you did not.

  6. Thanks!

The intro was showing a normal day of a sackboy and then it changed into a cool adventure. We were also rating the level design and gameplay aspects and 'Follow your Dreams' had gameplay and it was fun.

I think what also has to be mentioned is, that most creators in LBP aren't good with story driven levels, that have to be made in a month or two. So after all the change in a story wasn't too necassary, because there would've been one entry, 'Follow your Dreams'.

It's a very great level and Alex is a great creator, I guess I just misunderstood the "we are judging the gameplay of each level" thing to mean the gameplay has to demonstrate the theme of the contest as well.

Thanks for clearing that up. And sorry for questioning your decision.

  9. Thanks!

Thanks a lot, Xev, I really enjoyed your fantastic gameplay idea! I always thought, wow, what possibilities would this idea have in a platformer with another visual design! And it remembered me on Zelda: A link to the past, where you could change between the world of light and the world of darkness to reach special areas.
Thanks a lot for sharing and many greetings, Jürgen^^

  16. Thanks!

Yeah, I personally liked the variety of gameplay and the way, how the environment was presented.

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it, I had this idea some time ago so I'm happy I was able to complete it and share it. I haven't played a link to the past but I did play a link between words, I really liked the duality of the game which I think would fit very well with the theme of this contest.

Thanks, I was a little skeptical about varying too much the gameplay and leave behind the core idea I had in mind but in this way I think the level was more fun to play and to create for me.

Congrats to the winners of this contest and good luck to everyone in future contests! And remember that even if you're level didn't win, I'm sure the judges still enjoyed playing through your level and all the other entries.

Best to put the royalty badge set on your profile
This contest is very fun, it is over satisfactory.
