    Default Dreams DLC future issues

I have a big gripe with the LBP series and that is when you download DLC. And use that DLC in making levels, either consciously or unconsciously.

If for whatever reason your Playstaion breaks (happens to me annually) and you have to buy a new Playstation.

Getting all that DLC re downloaded can not only be a real pain but impossible due to some DLCs expiring for re download or sale.

Making it impossible to work on and recover a level or worse yet a series of creations.

Will they address this issue do you think by making a quick download all DLC? Or can still edit level just cannot publish level until all DLC is manually removed? Option?

    Maybe someone knows already?

I don't think DLV is going to work in the same way with Dreams simply because we can make anything, including copies of any DLC they would make, and I can't see how they could stop our freedom to do so without ruining the creative messaging.

On the topic of your PS4s regularly breaking: I would consider what could be going wrong your end because that's excessive. Do you live in a hot country? What is your PS4 placed on? Is there plenty of ventilation?

One I bought kept for half a year and decided to sell in exchange for a wiiU.

Then I bought another which was faulty It wouldn't update or turn on sometimes I lived with it for sometime before eventually buying another one.

Then that ones HDMi failed so it had to go.

I have also had the same sort of run with PS3s so this DLC thing I see as an unfortunate owner is a real pain. Now before you say I am rough guy my SEGA master system still works. Sony just don't build things to last but that's how they make money.

My latest one doesn't have any problems yet which is good because I have had for less than a week haha

Millions of people disagree and I would argue they do make things to last because my PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4 all ran perfectly well and I never had to replace any of them. You need to find out what you are doing because what you are experiencing is nothing close to the norm. Either that or you are very very unlucky.

Can't really disagree with my life and what happened as it did happen as a genuine experience bro. The only thing Sony makes that has been good to me are the games and experiences otherwise I would of stopped buying these machines a long time ago. Anyway My PC has been sitting in the same room for 7 years with zero issues, but I did put that together myself.

Anyway this is not the issue or subject I am bringing forward.

Strange cases, but ports should be an easy fix if it broke. I've only ever had internet problems with Sony products as they don't like certain routers. I had a weird ps4 and ps3 hdmi problem once, but it was something to do with how I connected to it last and I had to do a special boot to fix. But yes, I agree with you about the DLC. The only game with any sort of preventative measure I've seen is the Sims 4 (granted it doesn't work) where you could filter out any DLC items. The only DLC I could see is new features down the road (like if LBP2 had been LBP1 DLC), music that just wouldn't let you edit or place in create (but let's you delete it), or level packs that come with content just like any other community level.

Let's consider the DLC issue logically. We can make anything we want in Dreams from the ground up and anything MM make in Dreams can easily be recreated by the community, so it makes sense that the traditional DLC isn't going to be a great motivator to purchase it. Many people spent hundreds of pounds just buying costume sets in LBP and whilst there would likely still be people who would do that, it's not going to be anywhere near as prevalent as in LBP for the reasons I've already mentioned.

So ... now let's consider what MM have said about their intent to use Dreams to make games going forward. Now we're not talking in terms of DLC, we're talking about fully fledged games. Consider that in terms of prospective revenue in place of DLC and I think we have the road map. Not only would it inspire Dreams owners to buy those games for the experience as well as the assets/music, but it also goes beyond the game Dreams in that these games would be purchasable from the PSN store as standalone experiences. That is what I think MM plan to do.

I don't follow. Why would PSN get loaded with copied shark levels when the games are made by MM? And do you really think, when Sony or MM do allow people to sell their games on PSN, that they'll just let any old rubbish get published there?

  17. Thanks!

My PS2, PS3 and PS4 are still working just fine. I guess you are really unlucky.

I bought DLCs in LBP to have more assets for create mode. Dreams is basically going to be like a game making engine with a modelling component, a sound department and a platform for games and players. DLC wouldn't make sense here.

I remember MM saying that there will be DLC for the Imps though. How they handle it nowadays is a thing that interests me.

There were a lot of early PS3 failures. Several folks here lost them.. and the horror stories are just a search away here in LBPC. I had a backup PS3 for myself just in case during my creating years. The PS4, I don't worry so much about, but I haven't really created much of anything with it either due to how much I generally have had to work the past several years.

My ps3 disc drive doesn’t work. Already had it replaced once. Not looking forward to ever replacing it.
